Activities

Aurora Viewing
Join us for a evening tour at the Aurora Borealis Lodge, a beautiful, spacious Alaskan log lodge designed specifically for viewing the northern lights. Located on Cleary Summit 20 miles north of Fairbanks, the lodge is situated away from the city lights which may hinder the sky view. North-facing large windows allow for optimal
viewing conditions.

Backcountry Tours
Most of these tours take place in the Gates of the Arctic National Park, one of the most remote, rugged and least-visited of all US National Parks. We have classified them either as easy, moderate or challenging. Prospective tour participants should be aware of their own limitations, and choose a tour that is appropriate to their own level of experience and condition.
In addition to our own camping tour programs, we also work with other guides and operators throughout Alaska to offer camping tours in other remote regions of the state.

Canoe & Kayak Outfitting
In addition to one of the largest coastal paddling areas in the world Alaska is covered with some of the most remote scenic rivers in North America. If you are an experienced paddler capable of remote excursions we offer a large variety boats. Ally Folding Canoes, PakCanoes and Feathercraft Kayaks have a one-week minimum rental fee.

Dog Mushing
Dogteams are an ancient way to travel over snow-covered landscapes while providing welcome companionship in remote locations.
The unique athletic abilities of the Alaskan husky never cease to amaze us. We love our special lifestyle, our wonderful dogs, and have enjoyed sharing it with our guests for over 20 years.
Our tours are about personal attention and progressing at a pace comfortable for you
.

Fishing & River Excursions
We access a wilderness area with several clear water streams located approximately 60 miles south of Fairbanks, Alaska. This area offers some of the best fishing in interior Alaska and is convenient to both Denali National Park and Fairbanks visitors. A jet boat ride is included with all trips, as this is the only method to access this remote area.

Flightseeing
Fly south from Fairbanks and wonder at the vast and remote land below. Experience the majestic Alaska Mountain Range. Thrill at the excitement of witnessing firsthand Denali, North America's tallest mountain, by air.

Ballooning
In the land of the Midnight Sun, your daylight tour can begin as early as 6am or as late as midnight. Your FAA-certified pilots handle the aircraft with the touch of pure artistry. The equipment has the elegance of excellent craftsmanship while retaining the ultimate in modern safety.
The adventure begins as you watch your crew assemble the balloon. Then, if you are like most people, you will be surprised to hear the propane burners inflate the balloons. When you are aloft, there's no feeling of movement. The silence is complete so you can
often discover moose and other northern animals plus 15-20 species of migratory birds, including hundreds of Sandhill Cranes.

Golf
North Star Golf Club, North America's northernmost, is Alaska's great links style golf course. We offer visitor specials that include 9 or 18 holes of golf, local round trip transportation, golf cart, clubs, towel, logo ball, and certificate. Our fully stocked pro/gift shop has customized Alaska golf items for you and the
golfers back home.Relax after your round in our comfortable café with viewing deck.

Bird Watching
Alaska contains vast areas of pristine bird habitat: rich marine and estuarine ecosystems, coastal rainforests, interior boreal forests, lowland and alpine tundras, and coastal and interior wetlands. All of these environments host unique combinations 223 species of birds.
Most of these birds migrate to Alaska from the islands of the South Pacific, Australia, Asia, Central and South America, the contiguous United States, and Canada. Many of the species of birds that occur in Alaska breed primarily or exclusively in northern regions, where long-term studies of avian ecology are limited.

Wildlife Viewing
We'll experience spectacular hiking and wildlife viewing opportunities at the edge of the northernmost mountains in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, all within reach of our wilderness base camp. We'll watch for the Porcupine caribou herd as they pass by on their migration from the
Arctic Coastal Plain. We may also see Dall sheep, numerous migratory birds, and, occasionally, wolves, fox, moose, grizzlies, and wolverine. We'll then journey to the heart of Denali National Park for a stay at an incomparable lodge, Camp Denali, and another wildlife-viewing extravaganza.
