Film, Theatre & Entertainment Breckenridge Festival of Film: This festival takes place every September with premieres, celebrity guests, filmmakers, seminars, special events, parties and over two-dozen independent films.
Main Street Performances: Get into the Blue! Breckenridge’s Blue River Plaza hosts free performances every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer, including music, theatre, art, culture, sports, historical displays and kids’ activities.
Backstage Theatre: Enjoy this 30-year-old, award-winning Breckenridge tradition, with productions such as “Alabama Rain” and “The Spitfire Grill.”
Breckenridge Art The Arts District of Breckenridge: The Arts District is a pedestrian friendly area with outdoor and indoor spaces for workshops, artists-in-residence, galleries and various cultural events. Ongoing workshops for children, teens and adults are offered in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, handmade paper, clay and batik to name a few.
Galleries From fine art to great prints, posters to photos, Breckenridge’s dozen galleries provide an experience in visual and tactile wonders. Breckenridge Museums Breckenridge Welcome Center: Part information center, part historical museum, the 4,000 sq. ft. facility opened the summer of 2006. Built around a 19th Century log cabin, which was likely someone’s home, was fully exposed and renovated so the public can walk along the same floorboards and run their hands along the same hand-hewn beams that miners touched more than a century ago. The cabin has now become an interpretive museum featuring displays on life in Breckenridge in the 1880s. The Breckenridge Welcome Center also includes multimedia displays highlighting the town’s history from its days as an Indian settlement to a gold-mining mecca to Victorian ski village.
Barney Ford House Museum: This house museum is an 1880s Victorian Home restored to tell the story of the original owner and former slave, Barney Ford. Tours are available year-round.
Edwin Carter Museum built : in 1875 to house a growing collection of Rocky Mountain Flora and Fauna by “Professor” Edwin Carter, the Summit Historical Society’s walking tour in the summer stops here and welcomes visitors year round.
Main Street Historic Museum: The historical museum at 115 S. Main St. features seasonal exhibits showcasing the wonders of Breckenridge’s past. The museum admits guests free-of-charge, seven days a week.
Mountain Top Children’s Museum: This engaging children’s museum offers exhibits, camps and workshops year-round for kids of all ages.
Breckenridge Music Summer Music: The National Repertory Orchestra and the Breckenridge Music Institute Orchestra offer nearly 40 classical and non-classical concerts throughout the summer at the Riverwalk Center. The Riverwalk also hosts regular children’s concerts and more.
Genuine Jazz: in Breckenridge The best jazz fest in the Rockies comes to Breckenridge every June. Catch the acts during the day at the Maggie Pond’s unique floating stage. At night, the town lights up with the rhythm and funk of jazz’s best, playing throughout Breckenridge in numerous nightclubs.
