On Shepherd’s Hill, amid the tall sentinel pines, they built a magnificent country estate with sweeping vistas overlooking Squam Lake, of Golden Pond fame. Now, at the turn of another century, the elegance and comfort of this English manor has been artfully restored offering the perfect idyll for those seeking a respite, a romantic getaway. Beautifully appointed accommodations offer all the amenities of a luxury hotel while retaining the charm and tranquility of a New England country inn. Your choice of room can be reserved by desired amenities or by location—the Manor house or the Annex. You’ll dine in our beautiful Van Horn room, an intimate setting with elegant décor reminiscent of a fine English table with white linen napery, fresh flowers and candlelight. You’ll dine leisurely, lingering over the evening’s offering and accompanied by an outstanding bottle of wine from our extensive Wine Spectator list of vintages from vineyards worldwide. By special request our chef also offers a Vegan Chef’s Tasting Menu, menus that have won acclaim from our guests for their imaginative preparations and pairings. Breakfast is never taken lightly at the Manor. It is a favorite meal and prepared with the same attention given to our dinners. There is a cold buffet for light eaters and those guests who want to be out and about. For others who prefer to relax over a warm breakfast, the kitchen offers a changing menu of omelets, eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes crepes, French toast and numerous egg preparations. Manor mornings are always an anticipated event. Wine Pairing Dining Our extraordinary wine pairing evening offers you a delectable 4-course dinner prepared by our award winning Chef that is complimented with a wine selection. Your dinner selection will be matched with two different wines to show that there are no definitive rules for wine selection. M Bistro Chef Aaron will create dishes from vegetables, fruit and herbs from local organic farmers, artisan cheeses from gourmet producers and venison from an area deer farm. The menu will change seasonally to reflect the available vine-ripened produce. Menu changes seasonally. The Pub Before dinner, perhaps it’s a classic martini. After dinner you may opt for a vintage port or well-aged cognac or you might want to omit your usual and try one of our unique Manor Specialty Cocktails. Russian Raspberry - A delicate blend of vodka and raspberry served on a stem. Golden Goose - Grey Goose vodka mingled with a hint of orange and passion fruit, served on a stem. Red Fin - Cranberry and passion fruit mixed with Finlandia vodka offers refreshing tropical overtones. Manor Cosmo - Our secret ingredients bring a new interpretation to the popular cosmopolitan. Cooking School "Fork in the Road" Cooking Classes offer classes for the novice and experienced alike to attend during a luxury vacation. Master your culinary skills with our two-day cooking school to learn how to prepare award-winning cuisine. Our hands-on cooking classes teach you the many culinary secrets under the tutelage of the Manor’s team of professionally trained chefs, sample the tempting dishes prepared during each of our vacation cooking school curriculum.
Manor Signature Massage - A completely relaxing massage using a variety of techniques customized for each guests needs. Instilling calmness and a sense of well being. Herbal Body Butter Wrap - Indulge your senses with the soothing hydration blend of mango and shea butters infused with aromatic essential oils. Start this restoration treatment with a light skin exfoliation, then infuse your skin while wrapped in this rich emollient. Orange Blossom Sugar Scrub - A gentle and relaxing way to renew your skin. Organic cane sugar combined with the essence of orange blossoms will rejuvenate your skin. Followed by a light citrus moisturizer. Lemon Dreams Salt Glow - This treatment will have you “dreaming of lemon cream pie”. Sea salts are combined with lemon and vanilla essentials oils are massaged into the body exfoliating and mineralizing your skin. Harvest Splendor Facial Treatment - We use natural skin care products. This facial included cleansing, exfoliation, mask and moisture protection and face, neck and foot massage. Excellent for both men and women Comfort on The Rocks - Our signature hot stone massage. Smooth stones are heated and are used to relax and massage muscles while dissolving stress. The stones glide across your body in long flowing strokes, while others are placed on various energy points. The radiant heat long with the stone massage “melts” away deep muscular tension. Sole Delight - Points on the feet are massaged, with emphasis on specific points that bring Revitalization and balance to the entire body. Maple Moments - A botanical mud wrap infused with pure NH maple syrup. This warm, lavishly scented treatment is rich in natural vitamins, minerals and enzymes, the unique botanical mud rejuvenates and detoxifies your skin while deeply relaxing your soul.

All our guestrooms offer stunning views, many with private decks and each has its own distinguishing décor, an English designation, and a lavish private bath. In some you’ll find whirlpool tubs and steam showers for two and all guestrooms have air conditioning.

Seasons Spa, ideally situated on-property to provide both privacy and spectacular views, features a 700 square-foot mind, body and soul retreat sure to soothe and satisfy even the most seasoned spa-goers. Relaxation begins at the door when guests are greeted with a choice of flowering tea (midnight peonies, lavender dream; chrysanthemum bliss) and given a moment to be inspired by the menu of services that change seasonally. Once they have chosen their services they have the opportunity to change into a robe and de-stress before being led into one of the 3 treatment rooms. At the conclusion of their spa experience they can rest in the aromatherapy tranquility room beside the roaring fire before returning to the hotel.
