WaterColor Inn and Resort, Florida Vacations, Honeymoons and Luxury Travel Packages

Families have been coming to these beaches for generations. For many of them, the visits grew longer and longer with each passing year, until these Southern shores became their home-away-from-home. They built simple beach cottages that took advantage of the breezes and offered broad views of the gulf. Here, they created a unique Southern coastal lifestyle. It seems fitting that WaterColor Inn pays homage to that custom while forging its own identity. Designed by David Rockwell, the Inn combines the warmth and hospitality associated with traditional Southern grand hotels, the intimacy of bed-and-breakfast inns and the charm of classic beach houses.
Accommodations
With the function and charm of a personal cabana, all rooms face the beach, whether you opt for a rotunda room, Gulf view or dune view. Every room comes with a king-size bed and a queen sofa sleeper. Central to each room's original design are large walk-in showers with inset windows that overlook the beach. Thoughtful touches include an entertainment armoire, a cherry mini-bar, two-line speakerphones with voice mail and data ports, a CD/DVD player, high-speed Internet access, cable television, a business desk, ceiling fans, electronic safes and a coffeemaker.
Gulf View Guest rooms on each of the top three floors feature balconies that overlook the Gulf.
Dune View Dune-level bungalows extend into intimate courtyards with enclosed outdoor showers. Footpaths take you from your room to the Gulf or Inn pool.
Rotunda View Rotunda rooms are located in a central tower that captures panoramic views of the Gulf from each of the top three floors. The rotunda rooms are perfect for special celebrations.
Dining
One of the more basic but most enjoyable aspects of life is eating. WaterColor offers everything from a corner pizzeria to a corner table in the inventive Fish Out of Water restaurant. Whatever you're hungry for, you can find it in the restaurants and eateries around WaterColor.

Fish Out of Water Located on the second floor of the WaterColor Inn and overlooking the Gulf, Fish Out of Water celebrates Southern art and nature with a fire-and-ice theme, which is anchored by an exhibition grill kitchen and an ice bar bearing fresh seafood and sushi.
The mood at Fish Out of Water is casually chic, and yet elegance is reflected in the simplest detail. All is born of a passion for good food and an understanding of what it takes to create a wonderful dining experience. The freshest local fish and meats, combined with an eclectic approach to traditional ways of preparing and serving food, translates into dishes unlike anything else offered in this area. The chef has assembled a group of individuals who are committed to quality and have similar notions about what makes food great and what it takes to create a wonderful dining experience.
Fish Out of Water wins the Best of Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator Magazine.
Fish Out of Water has been selected by Florida Trend Magazine as one of Florida's top 400 restaurants.
BaitHouse Restaurant Overlooking Western Lake, the BaitHouse restaurant with its deep porches recalls the fish camps found along the bays and backwaters of Northwest Florida. A tower distinguishes the restaurant as a landmark and reinforces its proximity to the lake. During nice weather, the big sash windows open to the cooling breezes from the lake. Fresh, local seafood and vegetables, a warm and inviting atmosphere and good ol’ fashioned southern hospitality make the BaitHouse the ideal family dining experience here at WaterColor Inn and Resort.

Golf
Camp Creek Golf Club, a Tom Fazio-designed course, is six miles east of the Inn on Scenic Highway 30A. It's been said that Fazio's courses "look hard but play easy." Known for building courses that appeal to all levels of player skills, he is also acclaimed for consulting with nature to bring out the best attributes of a site. Nowhere is that more evident than at Camp Creek Golf Club, where Fazio has shaped a pure golf experience accentuated by a significant wetland system. The 18-hole, par-72 championship course measures 7,151 yards and features a driving range, short-game area, practice putting green, golf shop and grill.

Discover the beauty of a rare coastal dune lake. Our guided kayak/canoe tour around Western Lake will immerse you in the wildlife and history of one of Northwest Florida's ecological gems. You'll travel the paths of ancient native civilizations, Civil War soldiers, turn of the century turpentine workers and WWII Coast Guard outposts.
Western Lake borders on Point Washington Wildlife Management Area. You'll paddle near the nesting and feeding habitats of the osprey, bobcat, whitetail deer, and Oceola turkey. Ask your guide to lead a short walk in the forest to search for wildlife tracks!
This tour is a good option for younger children and families. Western Lake is a slow, easy paddle on shallow water. Tour lasts no longer than 2 hours.
Grayton Beach Explorer Paddle with our naturalist guide to where a coastal dune lake meets the Gulf of Mexico. You'll paddle across Western Lake to historic Grayton Beach and take a quick dip in the Gulf. Bottlenose dolphin, stingrays and sportfish are common in these emerald green waters. See how migrating shorebirds, Choctawhatchee dune mice and nesting sea turtles adapt to a freshwater/saltwater habitat. Includes a short walking tour inside a coastal dune canopy.
The Beach The waters of the Gulf are breathtakingly beautiful and amazingly clear. The color changes almost daily and has been variously called celadon, emerald, aquamarine, Coke-bottle glass-colored, and sapphire blue. You could conceivably spend the better part of your visit right here on the beach, but there are other diversions, both within the Inn and around WaterColor®, that you might want to consider.
