Mayflower Inn and Spa, New York Vacations, Honeymoons and Luxury Travel Packages

Mayflower Inn and Spa

Located in the idyllic town of Washington, Connecticut, less than 2 hours from New York city, you will discover a country house hotel of magnificent proportions.

Luxuriously nestled amidst 58 acres of century old rhododendron and specimen trees, the Inn is surrounded by the vast acreage of the nearby Steep Rock Reserve and the spectacular Shepaug River.

The Inn's superb setting combines with the elegance of five-star accommodations. Once you've settled into one of our romantic, rooms and suites you might simply luxuriate or you might choose instead to hike, kayak, play tennis, or practice putting before returning to the Inn to enjoy the seasonal pleasures of your own fireplace and a tub deep enough to soak away all stress.

Mayflower Spa is available as a Destination Spa on Sunday afternoon through Friday noon. Weekend guests of the Mayflower may access the Spa on weekends by either taking advantage of a Spa Plan or à la carte.

Mayflower Inn and Spa Accommodations

Each room is the ideal setting for an indulgent and peaceful rejuvenation as you enjoy the best of both worlds; an extraordinary setting with a raft of country pursuits—and truly luxurious accommodations.

As you’ll see, the emphasis is on individual style. A guest can stay in 30 different rooms and have 30 different experiences of luxury in four charming buildings—the Mayflower, the Speedwell, the Standish and the Allerton. No matter which room you select, no creature comfort has been overlooked.

Every room is an antidote to urban stress. Each allows you to unwind in a relaxed and sensual environment complete with deeply comfortable feather topped mattress, Tabriz rugs, enormous marble bathrooms wainscoted in luxurious mahogany, with brass and Limoges fittings, as well as our signature welcoming orchid. In addition, you’ll find fireplaces, well-stocked mini-bars, flat screen televisions discreetly hidden in cabinets, down comforters, plump oversized pillows, linens by Frette, dramatic four-poster canopied antique beds, walls papered in Regency stripes or empire petit fleur, a superb collection of 18th and 19th century art hung everywhere.

Of course, the modern conveniences also are at hand, including cable television and Pay Per View channels. Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. All rooms come equipped with two-line phones, with speaker-phone, voice-mail and data port. Fax machines also are available for guest use.

Retreats & Events

A one and a half hour drive from New York City, one hour from Hartford/Springfield International Airport, and 20 minutes from the private Oxford Airport, Mayflower is easily accessible. Our philosophy is that if our guests are provided the most elegant yet comfortable setting, your retreat will bear the fruit of success.

Meeting Space
Meeting space includes The Teahouse, our private and state-of-the-art retreat building as well as the Billington and Eaton Suites for more intimate settings.

The Teahouse, by virtue of the fact that it is a separate house, offers the critical retreat component of complete privacy. A three minute walk down the flagstone path, The Teahouse is a classic country cabin with a stone fireplace and deep leather chairs.

The 1,200 square foot meeting space is complimented by a 400 square foot breakout room, just downstairs. A full compliment of audio visual equipment, 2 direct dial phone lines, private fax machine, copy machine, T-1 access, and 2 additional phone lines are on the Tea House premise.

Activities
Mayflower offers and coordinates any number of activities – team building, golfing, spa treatments, relaxation classes, private tours of antique shops, or biking through the Litchfield Hills.

The Teahouse
The Teahouse, now in its seventh decade, has a long history as a meeting place. The classic country structure, with its big stone fireplace and deep leather chairs, converts magically into a fully equipped modern facility for conferences, institutional retreats, and cultural lectures. With its wide-screen T.V., V.C.R., overhead projection system, seminar seating, fax and high-tech phone capabilities, it breaks out into the ideal corporate think-tank or business planning center. It has become a favorite of some of this country's most important corporations.

Gardens & Trees

Set amidst the abundant and breathtaking beauty of 58 acres of century old rhododendron, endless trees, and luxuriant grounds, every season is a whole new reason to hike, saunter, bicycle, ski or snowshoe though one of New England’s most perfect verdant reserves: nearby Steeprock Reserve with its thousands of acres as well as its spectacular Shepaug River.

Those interested in less arduous pleasures, will find a late afternoon stroll amidst the unmistakable luxury, tranquility and beauty of our great lawn, contemplative Shakespeare Garden and the meandering paths of our American Poetry Maze also offers rich rejuvenation.

The Mayflower's grounds are a walker's paradise. Specimen trees with wonderful sounding names like Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar meet the knot gardens of boxwood and red barberry with wildflower cutting gardens beyond.

Inn Shop

Inside this jewel box sized shop you will find a perfectly edited selection of the finest men’s and women’s cashmere sweaters, throws, scarves, slippers, fine jewelry and watches. You will even be able to purchase the same sumptuous Frette linens, comforters and coverlets and evocative antiques that make our rooms so hard to leave. You will also find our natural botanical amenities—a lavender scented selection of red flower products and candles.
