The Hamptons are actually a group of small comunities that have some of the most spectacular estates in the world, with long stretches of beautiful sandy beaches, quaint seaside villages and scenic vineyards.

The four most popular destinations in the Hamptons are: colonial South Hampton where the glitz and high-priced boutiques are located on chic Job Lane; sophisticated Bridgehampton, where you can visit wineries and taste wine from nearby vineyards, or on Labor Day weekend play with the upper crust at the prestigious Hampton Classic Horse Show, or in mid-July–mid-Aug watch the Mercedes-Benz Polo Challenge; The very hip East Hampton popular with the new money crowd,  including Jerry Seinfeld, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Martha Stewart that live there and, Montauk, where the yachters and fishermen hang out.

Few cities claim the history and heritage that await you here in Hampton. Our nearly 400 year-old settlement can be enjoyed through an array of exciting attractions. There is never a shortage of fun in Hampton Roads' center attraction!

There are more than 100 area attractions within minutes of Hampton, Virginia.  Your family is sure to enjoy the Space Quest and Adventures in Flight galleries at the Virginia Air & Space Center, touring the world's largest natural harbor aboard the Miss Hampton II, the Cousteau Society, the Hampton History Museum, Bass Pro Shops and Hampton's many other unique attractions!

Beat the heat, the traffic and the crowds and relax on the beach in Hampton Buckroe Beach, just minutes from downtown, is an uncrowded, unspoiled beach with easy-access parking. Lapped by the gentle waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Buckroe Beach presents miles of coastline. 
 
It's also the place to windsurf, sail and motor the shoreline. Soak in the view where the sun's first rays glisten on the Chesapeake Bay horizon in a magnificent palette of color.  Its neighbor, Salt Ponds Marina, invites boaters to tie-up and step ashore. Enjoy delicious  Hampton seafood and local hospitality at nearby waterfront restaurants. And bait and tackle shops, ensure anglers are well equipped to lure the catch of the day. A concrete promenade offers the modern equivalent of a stroll down the broadwalk where visitors enjoy bay breezes and sunshine.   
 
An expansive, full enclosed playground will entertain your kids. The beach front is manned during the summer by lifeguards. Didn't come prepared? There are beach umbrellas, chairs and watercraft available for rent waterside. Larger craft may be rented or purchased from businesses just blocks away. Locals and visitors alike are invited to enjoy year-round educational programs and guided beach adventures through Hampton Parks & Recreation. Outings depart from Hampton Parks and, depending on the activity, watercraft, fishing gear and tackle are provided. Naturalists lead you through interactive study of wildlife and their habitats.
 
Depending on the weekend, you'll find many special events to cheer about ranging from volleyball tournaments to lifeguard competitions. During the summer months, the beach's waterfront pavilion hosts free family movies every Tuesday night and beach dancing on Sunday evenings.

Family-friendly overnight accommodations are available in Buckroe ... just walk outside your beach quarters and capture the sunshine.  Dig your toes in the cool sand, bask in the sun, sing along with the live band and let the kids have a ball!
