Built by Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., to be one of the world's grand hotels, the original Inn that opened in 1937 underwent extensive renovations in 2001 to ensure its world-class grandeur and status. The luxury resort is located adjacent to the 173-acre Historic Area of Colonial Williamsburg and the award-winning Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
The Williamsburg Inn is the crown jewel of Colonial Williamsburg Hotels. The Inn has hosted a wealth of heads-of-state yet pampers each and every guest with similar royal treatment. For many, it is a destination in itself. Gourmet dining, a spring-fed pool, clay tennis courts, award-winning golf, and a fitness club complete with spa services create a memorable resort experience. Enjoy afternoon tea by the fire, or try your hand at lawn bowling or croquet.

The Inn offers 62 rooms and suites in the main building, each averaging 500 sq. feet and offering deluxe bathrooms, robes, mini-bar, two multi-line phones, data port, voice mail, safe and daily newspaper. VCR on request. The Providence Hall House and Wings include 43 executive retreat rooms.
The careful renovation of the WIlliamsburg Inn encompassed every aspect of its interior - the original furniture designed specially for the famous hotel has been refinished and reupholstered, chandeliers brilliantly refurbished, a new tearoom and bar lounge have been incorporated into the first floor, along with modest alterations to the Regency Dining Room. The famous facade of the Williamsburg Inn has not changed as inside the renovations span three centuries of style: 19th-century Regency decor, the 20th-century heritage of the original building, and 21st-century amenities. It surely reflects what Rockefeller envisioned: a historic country inn with the most modern, gracious appointments.
