The Experience

The Opposite House

Emerald glass exterior.  A color chosen by eminent Japanese architect, Kengo Kuma, to convey calm. This stunning contemporary design is inspired by traditional Chinese wood lattice and reflects the vibrant street life surrounding the hotel. And yet, once inside, forms a soft screen that provides guests with privacy and comfort.

Breath-taking from the outside and equally stunning within, the design is one of seamless space. The house is a vibrant mix of modern and traditional, at the heart of which is a large central atrium where the conventional boundaries of hotel activities are subtly blurred.

The Opposite House has 98 contemporary Studios and a stunning Penthouse on two floors. Striking open designs, high ceilings and plentiful natural light evoke the feeling of spacious loft living. You’ll find abundant use of wood throughout, and under floor heating adds warmth and natural comfort. All Studios feature spa-inspired bathrooms with luxurious deep soaking oak bathtubs and invigorating rain showers. Studios also feature luxury down bedding by Ploh and 400 thread count Egyptian cotton bed linen, exclusive BaYanKaLa toiletries, LCD TV and Denon in-room entertainment, French press coffee (Nespresso machines in Studio 95 and above), complimentary mini-bar and wireless internet access, mood lighting system, and more.

Welcome to Beijing’s most intriguing collection of restaurants and bars where you’ll discover a genuine passion for food. From the Mediterranean tastes of Sureño to our international restaurant Village Cafe, our chefs constantly surprise with their own innovative twists on traditional favorites and the freshest ingredients. You’ll find our bars refreshing too. So relax to the chilled tunes of Mesh, our loungebar. We just opened our Chinese restaurant Jing Yaa Tang this year, specialised in Beijing Roasted Duck and authentic Chinese dishes.

Our gym is fully equipped with free weights and Technogym equipment and our 22m stainless steel swimming pool offers a different experience when you do your laps – a dramatic interaction of light and metal as you glide through the water. To recharge and rejuvenate, you can try one of our massage treatments or simply relax in the steam room.

Like the concept of yin and yang, The Opposite House combines seemingly contrary elements in a most harmonious way. Its shimmering glass exterior resembles traditional wooden latticework; the interior, a blend of modern sculpture and furnishings with subtle, classic Chinese touches. Located in the vibrant cosmopolitan Taikoo Li Sanlitun, the hotel offers luxuriously understated studios with comfortable features such as Denon entertainment systems and, in studio 95 and above, in-room Nespresso coffee machines. Surprise your taste buds with Asian and Mediterranean flavors and unwind at Mesh bar.
