Awasi Atacama
We are not the traditional kind of hotel. Our aim is to provide tailor-made memorable travel experiences through our lodging, our gastronomy and our outings, while assuring the intimacy, freedom, and comfort of our guests. At Awasi we believe that luxury is best expressed not by ostentation, but by the beauty of the simple, comfortable and natural objects that surround us. We also believe thatelaborate decoration or overwhelming infrastructure have little true value if not also accompanied by outstanding service and the warmth of personal attention.
Our property is located within the town of San Pedro de Atacama, a few blocks away from the town square, the old Church and the Museum. This allows our guests to experience what life used to be, and still is, in the millennial Atacama oasis. The Awasi property is surrounded by a historic wall. A small street called Tocopilla separates part of the installations. Within the walls are the restaurant, bar,pool and living-room, as well as five circular rooms with spacious private patios and solariums. Crossing Tocopilla is the reception area and, skirting a large patio, there are three rectangular rooms. In order to assure the comfort and privacy of our guests, we only have 8 cottages, each at least 500 square feet with a private patio and outdoor shower.
During the day the thatched roofs let warm sunlight filter through. The pool with comfortable deck chairs invites you to enjoy the Atacama sun and a relaxing space. At sundown the fire is lit and a bar under the stars celebrates your stay with exquisite delicacies that go down well after a day full of nature. At night, the dim lights allow you to marvel at the superb skies of Atacama. All this together with diligent service that seeks to let you enjoy the essence of each moment.
Our Cuisine
Our restaurant, for the exclusive use of our guests, guarantees privacy. Our team of dedicated professionals, together with our chef, have designed a sophisticated menu: fusion of Altiplano and international food, giving you a taste of new flavors and aromas using typical ingredients of the area which are part of the staples used by the native peoples: purple potatoes, patasca (a stew made with tripe, veal, potatoes, stewed corn and peppers), quinoa, or chañar (a meaty, sweet fruit from the Chilean chañar or palo verde tree). Wake up every morning to our home-made delights and be charmed during the day and night with a menu customized to your personal taste and needs.
Excursions
Our excursions are as extensive and varied as the unbelievable natural and cultural surroundings. Each cottage is assigned a personal guide and vehicle, allowing our guests to choose what is most attractive to them without having to adjust to the pace or preference of others. This way we customize every excursion to the interests, objectives and physical conditions of each guest.
In order to operate our outings with comfort and security, we have a modern fleet of 4WD vehicles equipped with both communication and GPS systems, which allow us to reach places not accessible to most of the tourists who visit San Pedro de Atacama.
Fully committed to sustainable tourism, Awasi has signed an agreement with the British company EcoSecurities to offset all of its greenhouse emissions by purchasing carbon credits in several eco-friendly projects around the world. As the first carbon neutral hotel in Chile, Awasi has become one of the leading hotels in Latin America.
Awasi´s design and architecture also express our commitment to sustainable tourism, since all the materials used in its construction were obtained from the surrounding area. Local workers have participated in its construction, contributing with skills and knowledge that have been passed on for generations.

We’d like to emphasize that as we design tailor-made travel experiences, these excursions represent just a few of the many options that the Atacama Desert has to offer and can of course be adapted to your personal preferences.
Terms & Conditions
Each program at Awasi includes:
- Lodging
- Breakfast, lunch, appetizer and dinner (Lunch on the date of check-in is not included).
- Alcohol or non-alcohol drinks
- Private outings Two half day or one full day excursion per day is included. (On check-in and check-out day there is one half day outing included)
- In-out Transfers to Calama Airport (CJC)
Conditions:
- The rates are per person and per program and are expressed in USD dollars.
- Rates are tax exempt for guests who are foreigners, not residents of Chile and pay in dollars.
- In case of single occupancy, the rate on each program has a 30% increase.
- The cost per additional bed for under 10 year-old children is 10% of the regular rate.
- Additional beds for guests over 10 years old pay full rate.
- Additional beds can be placed only in Rectangular Suites.
- Additional nights available upon request.
