Bovey Castle, set within 368 square miles of the Dartmoor National Park, Devon in South West England provides guests with a private and tranquil haven complemented by a style, quality and ambience often aspired to but rarely found. The Castle’s suites, staterooms and bedrooms enjoy a variety of views and are looked after twice daily by cheerful house staff who provide a friendly and attentive service. All of the staff at Bovey Castle prides themselves in their ability to humour, charm and serve. For those looking for complete privacy, The Castle Lodges, built of granite and oak, with three bedrooms is an exquisite home from home situated in its own private grounds overlooking the golf course.
The ambience of bygone days combines with meticulous service and fresh organic Devonian produce to provide an exciting dining experience. The Grand Terrace, on sunny days, is the perfect place for outdoor dining. Enjoy one of 150 historic cocktails in the lively Oak Room & Piano Bar each evening to the sounds of our resident pianist. Enjoy visiting the Bovey Wine Cellars with its eclectic mix of old and New World wines. The Castle’s main dining room – The Edwardian Restuarant is in the style of an original 1920’s art deco, with chinoiserie hand-painted wall coverings.
The Old Course at Bovey Castle is a challenging and beautiful PGA championship 18 hole golf course, designed in 1926 by JF Abercromby, one of the finest British golf course designers of the Golden Era. Overlooking the first hole, the ClubHouse will be a friendly and relaxed place to enjoy an early breakfast, casual lunch or drink with friends.
A swimming pool, housed in the Orangery opens onto The Sun Terrace with stunning views of the National Park. Just part of the extensive menu of health and beauty treatments on offer at Bovey Castle. The beautiful and luxurious Sundari Spa, specially designed with a choice of holistic treatments to soothe away 21st century stresses. To complete the relaxation experience, enjoy saunas, steam rooms, spa pool, and gymnasium, and is complemented by the spectacularly sited swimming pool perched high above the River Bovey which meanders through the valley below.
Other services and facilities include a fully serviced, state-of-the-art business and conference centre, reception rooms and a children’s program offering a host of exciting indoor and outdoor activities. Activities include archery, ballooning, boating,gliding, equestrian, falconry, fishing, sporting clays and more.
We now have 14 three bedroom granite-built lodges in our rental programme. Clients do have the advantage of wonderful privacy but with all the facilities and services of the Castle on hand.
The lodges are a short walk from the Castle in their own landscaped setting. The bedrooms all have private bathrooms, wonderful double-height sitting rooms and separate kitchen & dining room with separate terraces all with BBQ facilities and so are ideal for families or groups of friends wanting to travel together.
