The Experience

SLS Hotel South Beach

Located in the world-renowned playground of South Beach, SLS Hotel South Beach is a luxury Miami hotel. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, this beachfront property sits at 17th and Collins, near much dining, shopping, and nightlife.

The building that is currently home to the SLS Hotel South Beach enjoys a storied history. Originally built in 1940 and called the Grossinger Beach Hotel, the building was a feat of architect L. Murray Dixon. During World War II, Grossinger Beach Hotel served as barracks for Air Training Command officers. After the war the hotel reopened as the Ritz Plaza. It remained until 2004, when the property was purchased by current owner Sam Nazarian of the sbe Entertainment Group.

Designed by Philippe Starck, the luxury Miami Beach guestrooms and suites at SLS Hotel South Beach offer style and sophistication, just steps from the beach. Guests will enjoy plush pillow-top beds, unique furniture and décor, and soft lighting to create a truly decadent ambience. Each of the 140 guestrooms offers either a king-size or two double beds, with views of the ocean or city.

The Bazaar, the world-renowned restaurant by James Beard Award-winning Chef José Andrés, will make its east coast debut with a vibrant mix of sophisticated cuisine and playful indoor and outdoor lounge spaces. Dining transcends into fête extraordinaire as guests enjoy a collection of imaginative culinary experiences that offer pioneering delicacies and delicious libations. A story in contrasts, TheBazaar menu blends tradition and ingenuity in true Spanish style mixed with influences from South Beach’s local Latin flavors.

Katsuya by Starck South Beach infuses traditional Japanese cuisine with a provocative twist. Master Sushi Chef Katsuya Uechi, whose acclaimed sushi bars have been recipients of top Zagat ratings for years, unleashes his culinary artistry onto South Beach with a menu of innovative sushi and robata dishes uniquely adapted for the American palate. The restaurant also features the Dragon Room, an intimate mezzanine lounge, showcasing Katsuya’s award-winning mixology program.

Hyde South Beach – Already established as the premiere nightlife destination in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, Hyde Lounge’s energy will take over the sand with the debut of its first day club and nightclub oceanfront location – Hyde Beach. Featuring 8,000+ square feet of pool, beach and indoor/outdoor space, it’s an ideal place in which to create culture for a sophisticated tribe. Hyde Beach offers artful mixology and José Andrés cuisine, all inspired by the flavors and culture of the local community.

The Philippe Starck-designed Salon at the SLS Hotel South Beach will offer the ultimate in exquisite pampering for the body and soul. From smoothing blowouts to perfectly manicured fingers and toes, the salon will have you red-carpet ready from head to toe, even if the red carpet you’re strutting is South Beach’s sparkling sand and surf. The salon will direct a highly intuitive and personalized experience in a soothing, yet playful, setting. Reminiscent of a celestial dreamscape, guests will feel relaxed and at ease among the warm white tones and billowing curtains throughout the space.

For South Beach activities, the SLS Hotel South Beach offers water sports, a fitness center, a Blowout Bar on-Site, and bicycle rentals for exploring the area.  SLS Hotel South Beach also offers three spaces for Miami meetings or business events, totaling 28,000 square feet of event space.

Philippe Starck has made a splash with the SLS Hotel South Beach. A $45-million makeover has resulted in a whimsical dreamworld, starting in the “American summer camp”–themed lobby, complete with vintage kayak-turned-chandelier. The 140 guestrooms are pure romance, with trompe l’oeil French paneling and impish ceiling mirrors. Dine at the extraordinary Bazaar restaurant with James Beard award–winning Chef Jose Andres at the helm, or at Katsuya, where traditional Japanese cuisine is infused with a provocative twist. It’s a day-to-night party at Hyde Beach, a sophisticated hybrid of swimming pools, cabanas, beach and indoor/outdoor spaces.
