Jackson Hole Ski Vacations and Luxury Travel Packages

The majestic Tetons of northwest Wyoming provide a spectacular backdrop for your Jackson Hole ski vacation. Far from the crowds and close to nature with terrain so vast it appears uncharted, Jackson Hole is indeed a rare breed. With the highest continuous vertical rise in the country and over 2,500 acres of wonderfully varied terrain, The skiing and snowboarding are legendary in Jackson Hole. And while the natural beauty and wildlife add to the unique charm and character of Jackson Hole, it's the great Western Hospitality that welcomes winter sports enthusiasts back again and again.
Local Hangout: The National Elk Refuge, just outside the town of Jackson, is one of the largest elk preserves in North America. Up to 9,000 elk winter on the refuge; see them close up on daily sleigh rides, December through April.
New This Year: Bridger Restaurant, Jackson Hole's first-ever upscale on-mountain dining, opens in December at 9,095 feet. The resort is also set to begin construction in the spring on a 100-passenger aerial tram, which will have the longest continual vertical rise of any ski lift in North America when it opens in 2008.
Jackson Hole has long held a reputation as North America's burliest ski resort - a place where not long ago, unless you drove 12 miles into downtown Jackson, R & R at Teton Village meant unwinding over a pitcher of beer in the Mangy Moose bar. But in the last decade, more than $300 million has been spent to transform the once-tiny base village into a grand resort. This year, as Jackson Hole celebrates its 40th anniversary, hotels include the highest of the high end (a Four Seasons and an Amanresort), and more are in the works; at the airport, Gulfstream IV jets sit next to Piper Cubs. If you've been hesitant to visit because of its reputation as a humbling mountain with few slope-side amenities, best think again: Although Jackson Hole is famous for its challenging terrain and 4,139-foot vertical drop, it's also a great place for intermediate and advanced skiers to hone their skills.
