Guayaquil

With a population of almost four million, the city of Guayaquil is the largest in Ecuador. Because it is home to the main seaport and a very warm climate, there is also a Caribbean style culture here. With friendly locals, great seafood, and a festive atmosphere, you will love spending time in Guayaquil.

Exploring the streets of this vast city will be an adventure in itself, since there are so many things to see and do. One of the most popular places in Guayaquil is a riverside park called Malecon Simón Bolivar, where you will find local shops, gardens, and spectacular scenery.

Of course, wandering the downtown area of the city will be a culture-filled experience, and you will see many of the architecturally astounding buildings.

Guayaquil is also home to some of the best museums in Ecuador, such as the Museo Municipal and Museo Nahim Isaias. Just outside the city, you will find several of the most popular beaches in the country. Salinas and Vilamil are both great nearby beach areas that are also home to fantastic, modern hotels and restaurants.

The size and popularity of Guayaquil make it easy to find high-quality overnight accommodations. There are plenty of luxurious, beachside hotels if you feel like splurging, but many comfortable, budget-friendly options are available as well.

The cuisine in Guayaquil is amazing, especially the fresh, local seafood. You will love trying all the different restaurants you come across. There are also great markets, such as the Mercado Artesanal, where you can find traditional souvenirs and handmade goods.

This vibrant, seaside city is a perfect place to experience festive, upbeat culture. When you spend time in Guayaquil, there are exciting opportunities around every corner.
