Continue to Egypt, where you discover the secrets and history of a magnificent ancient civilization during your exploration of Cairo and your luxurious Nile cruise.

Tour Itinerary

Days 1-2: USA or Canada/Marrakech, Morocco

Upon arrival, enjoy special VIP assistance with customs formalities and then transfer to your hotel.
Sofitel Marrakech Palais Imperial

Day 3: Marrakech

Venture into the medina, the old walled section of Marrakech where many of its greatest treasures may be found. The graceful minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque, visible throughout the city, has inspired Islamic architecture since it was built in the late 12th century. The Saadian tombs, built in the 16th century and forgotten until 1917, feature exceedingly fine stucco and Granada-style carving typical of classical Moroccan buildings. Also visit the Bahia Palace and the palace of Dar Si Said. This evening, experience a traditional Moroccan dinner in a beautiful setting as you meet your fellow travellers.

Day 4: Marrakech/Essaouira/Marrakech

Take a day trip to the coast and the delightful Portuguese influenced town of Essaouira. Walk the narrow paths of the medina, lined with blue doors and whitewashed houses alternating with artisan's workshops. Return to Marrakech and your hotel this evening.

Day 5: Marrakech/Atlas Mountains/Marrakech

Leave Marrakech for a day trip in the Atlas Mountains through the Ansi Valley, toward the high Atlas. Stop at a Berber village before visiting Kasbah Tamadot, a marvelous kasbah transformed into an amazing guest house. Return to Marrakech in the afternoon. You may also visit a home where Marrakech's displaced children are cared for.

Al Karam: supports a home in Marrakech that houses street children in emergency situations and provides activities for children living on the street.

Day 6: Marrakech/Casablanca/Cairo, Egypt

Take a scenic tour of Marrakech's gardens, riding a calèche (horsedrawn carriage) from Menara Gardens to the Majorelle Garden, where the former painting studio of Jacques Majorelle now houses a small Islamic art museum. Afterward, enjoy some time at leisure until you depart for Casablanca, arriving in time for dinner at Rick's Café. Proceed to the airport for your overnight flight to Cairo.

Day 7: Cairo

Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, exhibiting the world's greatest collection of Ancient Egyptian artifacts — over 120,000 objects. Marvel at the many rooms filled with golden treasures from the world-famous tomb of Tutankhamun, as well as the fascinating Mummy Room.

Day 8: Cairo

Visit Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt dating from 3100 BC, and the legendary city of Menes, the pharaoh who united Upper and Lower Egypt. Proceed to the necropolis of Sakkara and the Step Pyramid of Zoser, the oldest of Egypt's 107 pyramids. Have lunch at the historic Mena House Oberoi, then proceed to the Giza Plateau to view the 4,500-year old Pyramids built for the pharaohs Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus. Just to the east lies the Great Sphinx. Continue to the Solar Boat Museum to view the 141-foot long funerary boat of Cheops.

Day 9: Cairo/Abu Simbel/Aswan

Fly to Abu Simbel to visit its two great temples, which were cut into pieces and reassembled at this new site when the creation of Lake Nasser threatened their existence. Proceed to Aswan, where you are welcomed aboard 'Sun Boat IV,' your luxury home on the Nile. After lunch on board, visit the granite quarries to see the famous Unfinished Obelisk.

Day 10: Aswan/Kom Ombo/Edfu/Esna/Luxor

At Kom Ombo is a unique twin temple dedicated to two gods, Haroeris the falcon-god and Sobek the crocodile-god. Return to the ship for the cruise to Edfu, where you visit the extraordinary Temple of Horus. Tonight is "Egyptian Night" on 'Sun Boat IV,' and everyone is encouraged to don a galabeyya (robe) and enjoy a lavish Egyptian buffet, accompanied by music and dancing.

Day 11: Luxor

Cross to the West Bank of Luxor to explore the Valley of the Kings, a vast necropolis of richly decorated tombs, and visit the Temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt's first female pharaoh. After lunch, explore the East Bank, starting with the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun. Proceed to the Temple of Karnak, built over more than a thousand years by generations of pharaohs. Tonight's dinner on 'Sun Boat IV' is a formal affair, with whitegloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine.
