The Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb must be one of the ultimate travel experiences. If you are reasonably fit and healthy, the opportunity of a lifetime awaits you. Mt Kilimanjaro lies on the border of Tanzania and Kenya and dominates the surrounding landscape. The physical beauty of this mountain is overwhelming and the scenery and views which can be enjoyed, are unique.

We recommend you take a game viewing Safari before or after your climb. If you do it before it will help you acclimatize and get over jet lag. You might also consider taking an extra day on your trek

Kilimanjaro is the crown of Tanzania. Perpetually snow-capped and frequently fringed by a mantle of clouds, it is one of Africa's classic images. At 19,344 ft., it is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest "walkable" summit in the world. The opportunity of a lifetime awaits you. For first-timers we recommend the Marangu Route. For more experienced climbers we can arrange the Machame Route

Day 2. Mandara Hut. After breakfast you meet your guides and porters. The route begins at the National Marangu Gate at 6,000 ft. It is a 3 - 4 hour walk through the rainforest to the Mandara Hut at 9,000 ft. You will stop for lunch en route. Mandara Hut. BLD

Day 3. Horombo Hut. Today the altitude will begin to make itself felt cautioning one to tread slowly and enjoy the panoramic views. Today you will reach 12,000 ft. Horombo Hut. BLD

Day 4. Kibo Hut. After a good night's rest, move onto the lunar-like landscape of the "Saddle", the barren high altitude desert between the rounded summit of Kibo Peak and the jagged peak of Mawenzi. The Kibo Hut at 15,450 ft is reached in 5-6 hours. BLD

Day 5. Summit Day. For some 6 hours one climbs the steepest and most demanding part of the route, to Gillman's Point at 18,640 ft on the Crater rim. The remaining 2 hours to the true summit, Uhuru Peak at 19,340 ft, are in fact easier. Horombo Hut. BLD

Day 6. Marangu. Make your final descent to the base of the mountain, arriving back at midday. Springlands Hotel. BLD

Day 7. Return to Arusha. Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Arusha arriving at about noon. B

Extra Day

We strongly recommend you consider staying an extra day for acclimatization. This would be at Horombo Hut, if available. Some climbers choose to take an extra day to assist in acclimatization. This day is spent at Horombo Hut. During peak climbing periods (normally August, September, December and January) Kilimanjaro National Park Authorities may not allow this. We recommend you book in advance.
