8 Days Tanzania Kili Climb Vacation and Luxury Tour Package
Duration: 8 Days / 7 Nights Priced From: $4825 pp Dbl. Occ. Dates: Jan - Dec

Often called the Everyman's Everest, its possible to summit the 19,341-foot Kilimanjaro if one is in excellent physical fitness—to climb this mountain requires resolve and determination. We have chosen the less-traveled Rongai Route, which is considered the easiest way up, with four days of 4-hour walks, and one day of 6-7 hours. During your ascent, you'll pass through five climatic zones: savannah, forest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally, glacial plateau at the summit.
Itinerary
Day 1 Moshi You are met on arrival in Arusha and transferred to your hotel where the rest of the day is spent preparing for your climbing days ahead. Marangu Hotel
Day 2 Mount Kilimanjaro National Park After an early morning breakfast, transfer to the southern base of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park at Naremoru gate. From there, travel two hours up to the gate at 5,900 feet. Our gradual ascent is a 3 to 4 hour walk through pine forest, home to the striking black and white Colobus monkey. The camp is just clear of the forest in the moorland at 9,200 feet.
Day 3 To Kikelewa Cave First camp to Kikelewa cave. The path goes through alpine moorland, to Second Cave at nearly 11,500 feet. After a lunch stop here, the path forks left towards Mawenzi. After another 3 hours, Kikelewa Cave is reached, at 12,000 feet. Total trekking time today is about 6 to 7 hours. Total distance is about 9 miles; with most of the altitude gain achieved in the first half of the day.
Day 4 To Mawenzi Tarn Kikelewa Cave to Mawenzi Tarn. The path climbs up a steep ridge directly towards Mawenzi. At the top of the ridge, the path turns left and traverses across rocky landscape and then descends into the Tarn Valley where camp is made at just over 14,000 feet. The distance covered is about 3 miles—about 3 to 4 hours due to the steepness and altitude change.
Day 5 To Kibo Hut Climbers retrace the path of the previous day for a short distance, and then descend to the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. There follows a 4-mile walk across the gradually ascending high altitude desert to Kibo Hut. Camp is made close to the hut at almost 15,500 ft. Total trekking time is about 4 to 5 hours.
Day 6 To Uhuru Peak We make an early start for Uhuru some 6 hours away, eventually reaching the edge of the Kilimanjaro saddle, a strange moonscape sloping gently towards the great cone of Kibo. You'll continue around the crater rim to the peak Uhuru. After the exhilaration of reaching the top of Africa, continue down the eastern slopes of Kibo taking the most direct and swiftest descent route to Horombo hut at 12,000 ft.
Day 7 Descend to Marangu. Today make the final descent to Marangu. Marangu Hotel
Day 8 Depart Arusha Today transfer to the Kilimanjaro International Airport or the Arusha airstrip and either depart Tanzania or continue with your onward journey in Africa.
