We have two lodges here at Ulusaba. One is perched high on the summit of a koppie (rocky hill) and we call it Rock Lodge. It is here where you will find spectacular panoramic views over miles of bush, the wildlife roaming within, and the beauty of the lowveld (bushy grassland plain) below, all set against a backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountain range far in the distance.

Walking in the Bush

The daily walk usually commences after breakfast. This is a fascinating activity as it allows you to observe the smaller animals that you would usually not see while out on drive. Our knowledgeable ranger and tracker will enthrall you with stories about the medicinal properties of plants, local beliefs regarding the wildlife and fascinating facts regarding the animals. As if some of the finest game viewing, cuisine and views in Africa weren't already enough, not to mention luxurious rooms and staff that make you feel so at home, Ulusaba also has a boutique spa at both Rock Lodge and Safari Lodge. Seeing the stars, up close and personal

Guest can now enjoy a star gazing evening as part of their game viewing experience at our new Observatory tucked away in the bush.

We have four different types of packages to fulfil different wedding dreams. All of these include 3 nights accommodation, unlimited food and beverage including any special wedding meals and unlimited French champagne, the ceremony at any one of a variety of stunning locations either within the Lodge or in the bush, a minister, preparation and processing of all legal documentation, complimentary room upgrades (subject to availability), an optional room for the bride on the eve and/or day of the wedding (subject to availability), a special wedding turn down, a wedding cake, all game viewing, a wedding gift from us and plenty of other little extras and surprises!

Our rangers will whisk you away to a secret location in the bush where you will enjoy a traditional Christmas lunch with an African twist, set amongst the fantastic backdrop of ancient Jackalberry trees...

New Year's Day

For all Night Owls and other creatures of the night, there will be a late-morning safari bush walk to a secret location where a Champagne Bush Brunch will be served. Alternatively a Continental Breakfast will also be available for the early risers.

After an exhilarating day's game viewing whilst on safari in South Africa what could be better than being pampered at Ulsaba Private Game Reserve's Aroma Boma beauty treatment centre. Let the qualified beautician and therapists pamper you with the Virgin Touch. Treatments may be done in your room or on your private balcony.

Guinot Treatments offered include a liftosome facial uses a high concentration of vitamin C and proteins to strengthen elasticity and firmness whilst stimulating cellular regeneration. Our resident beautician also offers aromatherapy massages, manicures, pedicures and waxing.

Cubs of all ages are welcome at Rock Lodge and will be invited to take part in Ulusaba Cub's Club. Because Rock Lodge is small and intimate, and because we know each cub is different, we do not operate a set programme, rather we have a set welcome pack and range of great activities that are available on request.

On arrival at Ulusaba all cubs will be given a Cub's Club Backpack which contains lots of little goodies to help keep them entertained and to help to educate them about the African Bush. In every cub's room there will be a special welcome letter and a list of phone numbers they can dial from their room so it is easy for them to get hold of other members of their pride, along with Ulusaba staff. Also for their safety, we have security guards on duty all night who will pay particular attention to rooms occupied by cubs.

Helicopter Trips

This is an exhilarating flight that swoops over deep and mysterious gorges, through lush valleys bursting with vegetation and colour. You will linger above cascading waterfalls, allowing for spectacular photographic opportunities. The flight will continue along the escarpment to God's Window, which is offers awesome panoramic views of the bushveld below and on to the fascinating and dramatic rock formations of the 1000-metre-deep, 30-kilometre-long Blyde River Canyon, (the third deepest and greenest Canyon in the World). You will have a bird's eye view of the curious Three Rondavels! You will then land at a sight with magnificent views of Mpumalanga Lowveld, where you are invited to enjoy a delicious picnic.
