Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Fly USA to Cairo
Day 2 Welcome to Cairo, Egypt
Modern Cairo is an architectural fusion of old and new, where skyscrapers and ancient monuments stand side by side. You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel.
Day 3 Memphis, Sakkara, Pyramid and Sphinx tour
Begin with Memphis, ancient capital of Egypt in Pharaonic times, and the chosen city of the God Ptah. Proceed to Sakkara to see the famous Step Pyramid of Zoser, the first tall building known to mankind. After Lunch continue to Giza to see the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos. Then, visit the Sphinx, the largest single block sculpture of all time – carved from one solid piece of limestone.
Day 4 Fly Cairo to Luxor
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor. On arrival, transfer to your cruise ship. Enjoy lunch on board. This afternoon visit the Temple of Karnak which was built, added to, dismantled, restored, enlarged and decorated all during its colorful history of over 1500 years. Dinner on board and overnight in Luxor.
Day 5 Luxor to Esna
After breakfast, cross the Nile to visit the Necropolis of Ancient Thebes, the city of the dead, where the wealth of antiquities is outstanding. Explore the Valley of the Kings and visit the tombs of Egypt’s splendid Pharaohs. Visit the Valley of the Queens including the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Return to the boat and set sail for Esna while enjoying lunch. Dinner on board and overnight in Esna.
Day 6 Edfu to Kom Ombo
Enjoy breakfast on board. Sail to Esna and cross the lock. Visit the temple of falcon-headed God, Horus – one of the finest examples of Ptolemaic art in Egypt. Continue sailing to Kom Ombo. Dinner on board and overnight in Kom Ombo.
Day 7 Kom Ombo to Aswan
Arriving into Aswan you will visit the High Dam built to control the flooding of the Nile. Continue to the Temple of Philae; dedicated to the world’s most famous Goddess Isis it also represents three great civilizations – Egyptian, Greek and Roman. Enjoy lunch on board. Sail on the Nile by felucca and visit Agha Khan Mausoleum. Enjoy dinner on board and overnight in Aswan.
Day 8 Fly Aswan to Abu Simbel
Enjoy a felucca ride on the Nile after breakfast then transfer to the airport for your flight to Abu Simbel. This great temple in rock boasts four colossal seated statues of King Ramesses II in front of the entrance. Threatened by the waters upon the completion of the Aswan High Dam, UNESCO took action to move and rebuild these temples on a plateau above the former site. Fly back to Cairo.
Day 9 Egyptian Museum, Citadel and Mosques tour
The Egyptian museum is the most important depository of Egyptian antiquities anywhere in the world. It features artifacts including the mummies of ancient Egypt’s king and Tutankhamun treasures. Situated on a spur of the Muqattam Hills, the citadel dominates Cairo’s skyline and was the nerve center of the city and Egypt for almost 700 years. Within the citadel is the Alabaster Mosque built by Mohammed Ali of Sultan Hassan and the Mosque of Al-Refai, which are among the most majestic monuments of Arab architecture in Egypt. Visit Khan El Khalili, a famous Cairo bazaar dating back to the late 14th century.
