Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Depart USA Board an overnight flight to London to begin your journey to explore the antiquities of Egypt and the wildlife havens of Kenya.
Day 2: London / Cairo, Egypt Land in Cairo tonight, where your representative meets and escorts you to your grand hotel. Four Seasons Nile Plaza
Day 3: Cairo – Giza A momentous day takes you from the Egyptian Museum with its rich Pharaonic treasures, to the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, both enigmatic and staggering in their roportions and architectural precision. Day 4: Cairo / Luxor / Nile River Cruise Today, you are welcomed aboard the distinguished river cruiser that will travel the Nile to some of the most enduring creations of humanity. After lunch on board, tour the Temples of Luxor and Karnak, crowning achievements of the ancient world and centuries in the making. Oberoi Philae (B,L,D)
Day 5: Nile Cruise – Luxor / Edfu Explore the Nile’s West Bank as you tour the Valleys of the Kings and Queens, where pharaohs’ tombs were long hidden amid desolate hills. Day 6: Nile Cruise – Edfu / Kom Ombo Discover Edfu during a horse-drawn carriage ride that takes you into the city center and the Temple of Horus, a perfectly preserved window on life under the Ptolemaic pharaohs. Day 7: Nile Cruise – Kom Ombo / Aswan This morning you awake in Aswan. Visit the High Dam, Old Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple. Oberoi Philae (B,L,D)
Day 8: Aswan / Cairo Disembark the ship after breakfast, and visit the sultry city of Aswan, gateway to fabled Nubia. Enjoy a fun and breezy ride on a felucca, a traditional small sailboat, to visit Kitchener Island’s botanical garden of exotic trees, plants and carefully planned walkways before flying to Cairo. Day 9: Cairo / Nairobi, Kenya Following a day of leisure in Cairo, you depart the deserts of Egypt, and fly to Nairobi in the heart of big-game safari country. Transfer to the legendary Norfolk Hotel, which has hosted the rich and famous since 1904. The Norfolk Hotel (B)
Day 10: Nairobi / Aberdare National Park Set off on safari to the verdant Aberdare Highlands. Your first wildlife experience is at one of the famous “tree lodges.” Rare bongo antelope, forest hog, and rhino are among the visitors to the floodlit watering hole just outside. The Ark (B,L,D)
Day 11: Aberdare National Park / Sweetwaters Game Reserve Travel off the well-worn path to Sweetwaters, a private reserve with diverse wildlife and a plush camp. It is also an important sanctuary for rhino and home of the Jane Goodall Institute. Sweetwaters Camp (B,L,D)
Day 12: Sweetwaters Game Reserve / Mount Kenya Travel to famed Mt. Kenya Safari Club, one of Africa’s most romantic resorts. The day is yours to relax, golf, visit the animal orphanage or stroll the grounds to admire the splendid views and abundant bird life. Mt. Kenya Safari Club (B,L,D)
Day 13: Mount Kenya / Masai Mara Game Reserve After breakfast, fly directly to Masai Mara, Kenya’s premier wildlife reserve. The celebrated great herds of wildebeest and zebra as well as gazelle, elephant, and cheetah make each game drive a singular adventure. Your deluxe camp is beautifully set along the Mara River. Day 14: Masai Mara Game Reserve Enjoy a memorable day of game viewing in the Mara. Today, you are lost in the world of impala, giraffe, buffalo, rhino and lion prides up to 20 strong. Day 15: Masai Mara Game Reserve / Nairobi After a final view of the Mara’s rich wildlife, you fly to Nairobi. A dayroom is reserved for your convenience. This evening, celebrate at a gala farewell dinner before bidding Kwaheri (Swahili for “goodbye”) as you transfer to the airport for your late-evening flight to Europe. Day 16: Arrive USA Connect in London to the USA, and arrive home later today.
