For many, the idea of a safari involves romantic canvas-tented camps complete with crisp linens on the beds and soft rugs underfoot; we have chosen the lodges featured in this tour expressly because they hearken back to the safari camps of those golden olden days. Start with a single night in Nairobi before heading to Tortilis Camp in Amboseli National Park. Amboseli lies at the foot of the dramatic Mt. Kilimanjaro and it attracts large concentrations of wildlife, especially during dry season. After two nights, head to the Little Governors' Camp in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, known for its high predator population and the annual wildebeest migration. From here, head to Kikoti Camp in Tarangire National Park in Tanzania. The proximity to Lake Manyara and the Tarangire River assures good gameviewing, as thirsty animals are attracted to the guaranteed water sources. Next is the Lemala Ngorongoro Luxury Camp near the famous Ngorongoro Crater, an enormous caldera in which about 25,000 animals roam. Conclude this magical journey at Lemala Serengeti Luxury Camp. The Serengeti is about as "classic" a safari experience as one could hope for: waving grasses and sweeping plains that create an achingly scenic backdrop to the daily struggle between predator and prey.
