Day 3: Nairobi/Samburu

Day 4: Samburu

Early morning game drives are the perfect time to witness the abundant wildlife awakening for their breakfast. In addition to elephant, buffalo and rhino, you have an opportunity to spot some species unique to Kenya's Northern Frontier District, including the "Special Five:" reticulated giraffe, thin-striped Grevy's zebra, majestic beisa oryx, Somali ostrich and the graceful "giraffe-necked" gerenuk antelope, which stands on its hind legs to feed. Samburu is also an excellent photographic area. Return to your camp for lunch and a brief rest before setting out on an afternoon game drive.

Day 5: Samburu/Chyulu Hills

Board a private charter flight to the Chyulu Hills (the Green Hills of Africa of Ernest Hemingway). Transfer to Campi Ya Kanzi, on the panoramic ridge with spectacular views of the giant snow-dome of Mount Kilimanjaro. The camp is both a beautiful wildlife-viewing retreat and a pioneering eco-tourism destination, run in partnership with the local Maasai community.

Day 6: Chyulu Hills
