12 Days The Livingstone Wing Safari Tour Package
Duration: 12 Days / 11 Nights Priced From: $6,695 pp dbl. occ. Dates: Jul - Dec, Jan - Aug

The Livingstone Wing Safari is a delightful journey for travellers with limited time away from home yet who desire an in-depth safari experience. Devoted exclusively to Kenya, in less than two weeks we touch upon nearly all of the region’s highlights, while enjoying exceptional wildlife throughout. Four flights expedite travel between locations and make the most of our time in each reserve.
We start in Nairobi at the venerable Norfolk Hotel with a Safari Briefing by our field team and meeting with a Maasai Elder. A city tour shows Nairobi to be a historic and fascinating city, visiting the home of author Karen Blixen who penned Out of Africa. Luncheon at the homestead of Kenya’s oldest tea plantation hosted by the original settler’s granddaughter is another highlight. Giraffe Centre is next, including a private briefing by the resident warden about the mission to save the endangered Rothschild giraffe; the chance to hand feed them is a bonus!
The day draws to a welcoming close with drinks and dinner at the home of Felix and Jane Pinto, at either their Lavington Hill estate in Nairobi or at their country residence, Ideal Farms. Spending an evening with the Pintos is always a trip highlight—Ever hospitable, Felix and Jane take great pleasure in getting to know travellers. Guests report that after only one evening with the Pintos, they feel like lifelong friends—which many of them become!
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 United States –Europe Your safari begins today as you enplane for Europe.
Day 2 Europe –Nairobi Welcome to Nairobi. An awaiting guide accompanies you to the venerable Norfolk Hotel.
Day 3 Nairobi
The excitement begins today with a special presentation by Maasai Elder Rakita, followed by a Safari Briefing and optional Safari Outfitting. Next is a city tour with a stop at Kiambethu Farms where lunch will be enjoyed in the homestead, hosted by the original settler’s granddaughter. We continue to Karen Estates and the Giraffe Centre before returning to our hotel. This evening, we are invited to a cocktail reception and dinner at the Pinto family home atop Lavington Hill. The Pintos delight in meeting each and every traveller and welcoming them to Kenya.
Day 4 Amboseli This morning we fly over the scenic Athi Plains and into the bush country of Amboseli National Park, home to the legendary Maasai tribesmen and famous for huge herds of elephant. An afternoon game run is planned. Overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge/Ol Tukai Lodge.
Day 5 Amboseli We awaken today to the sights and sounds of big game country. In addition to elephant, antelope, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and the rare black rhino, nearly every vista within the park is framed by majestic Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance.
Day 6 – Day 7 Ol Pejeta Conservancy This morning we fly to Nairobi and proceed north, driving through lush tea and coffee estates to Sweetwaters Tented Camp. Both Sweetwaters land, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and its sumptuous ranch were once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi. We visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact Sweetwaters boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya. Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and saltlick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwaters is bound to delight.
Day 8 Mount Kenya Safari Club Our destination today is the cool, crisp Kenyan highlands and the historic Mount Kenya Safari Club, set in over 100 acres of landscaped gardens. This exclusive resort offers an experience of refined elegance and luxury, as well as a sense of old Hollywood in its glamorous past. All of the amenities you would expect from a fine international establishment are here, including horseback riding, golf, croquet, a putting green, a bowling green, table tennis, swimming, a beauty salon, an animal orphanage, tennis, trout streams and more. Fine dining, warm hospitality and superb accommodations of suites or cottages are hallmarks of our stay.
Day 9 Maasai Mara This morning we enplane for the Mara, winging west over the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the unspoiled savannah of the Maasai Mara where magnificent events await. Here we may savour a Bush Walk with an expert naturalist guide, experiencing the world of the Mara from the ground up—an invigorating opportunity to stretch our legs and be a part of the land. Or we may try a Hot-Air Balloon Safari. Our accommodations are equally superlative at the Mara Safari Club or Kichwa Tempo Camp with two nights under canvas, recalling the golden age of safaris.
Day 10 Maasai Mara
The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs. We also visit a Maasai village and glimpse life soancient and yet so enduring that it astonishes. The true pinnacle of our journey to the Mara however will be Bush Sundowners—a civilised cocktail party staged in the untamed wilds of Africa.
Day 11 Nairobi –Europe A short flight to Nairobi this morning and our adventure draws to a close. We highly suggest a visit to an AmericaShare project to bring your African journey full circle. A dayroom is available until departure for international flights this evening.
Day 12 Europe –United States We arrive home today, already nostalgic for those serene days on safari.
