Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Malta On arrival in Malta, you will be transferred to your hotel, located in the ancient Medina. Xara Palace Hotel.
Day 2 Day Trip to Valleta This World Heritage site has a rich historical past and an abundance of historical buildings, museums, monuments and churches. You start off at the Malta Experience, an audiovisual show which gives an excellent insight and introduction to Malta's history. Walk through the narrow winding streets and visit the magnificent Grand Masters Palace dating back to the mid 16th Century, with its Staterooms, Flemish tapestry chambers and Armory collection. On to one of Malta's most historical and artistic monuments—St. John's Cathedral built by the Knights of St John between 1573 and 1577. We also visit the famous Oratory with its collection of beautiful church ornaments and Caravaggio's "The Beheading of St John." Visit the Museum of Archaeology and before leaving Valletta, take a walk through Upper Barrakka Gardens, which offers an unrivalled view of the famous and spectacular Grand Harbor.
In the afternoon you will visit the nearby Roman villa recently restored with its stunning display of mosaics. Then, walk through the old Mdina and Rabat areas before returning to your hotel for the evening. Xara Palace Hotel
Day 3 Prehistoric Malta Malta has a very rich history, going back to pre-historic times. Many unique temples from the pre-historic age can still be found on the islands of Malta and Gozo. Recent research has shown the earliest Neolithic sites in Malta are older than Stonehenge and the Pyramids. We visit Tarxien Temples dating back to 2400 B.C, the Temples of Hagar Qim and Ghar Dalam.
In the afternoon visit the Hypogeum hal salfieni, the oldest underground dwelling in the world. The Hypogeum is an enormous subterranean structure excavated c. 2500 B.C., using cyclopean rigging to lift huge blocks of coralline limestone. Day 4 Gozo Early departure for a full day visit to the island of Gozo. [ferryboat ride from Malta to the island of Gozo]
Visit the Azure window, the Temples of Ggantija, 2800 B.C said to be one of the earliest free standing structure in the world, the bays of Xlendi and Marsalforn. Lunch at the ta' Rikardu restaurant housed in an 11th Century Norman farmhouse situated within the Citadella, serving a typical Gozitan meal. Day 5 Depart Malta Today transfer to the airport and board your flight home.
