Experiencing a sunset over this region is a stunning experience you won’t forget. You will later fly over the Skeleton Coast, named for the bleached whale and seal bones that cover the shore, where you can locate diamond camps and shipwrecks. Safaris will wrap up this adventure with opportunities to see over 100 animal species including elephants and rhinos.  Luxury accommodations include a first-class desert retreat, an eco-friendly camp with adobe-styled thatched facilities, and a stylish lodge in a private game reserve.

  • Experiencing the sunset over the stunning Namib Desert dunes
  • Exploring the stark plains of the Haub River Valley
  • Getting a birds-eye view of shipwrecks on the Skeleton Coast
  • The Twyfelfontein rock engravings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Seeing big game on their home ground in Etosha National Park
  • Watching wildlife at the watering holes amid the plush wilderness of the Ongava Game Reserve

Tour Itenerary

Day 1: Arrive Windhoek & Sossusvlei, Namibia

Welcome to Namibia. You are met on arrival in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital, and then transferred to board your flight to Sossusvlei. Upon arrival in Sossusvlei, you are met and taken to your hotel.

Sossuvlei is in the Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world. Set amongst ancient camel thorn trees on the dry Auab riverbed, your accommodations offer deluxe facilities, charming hospitality and proximity to the towering red sand dunes of the Namib Desert.

This afternoon enjoy time at leisure to rest or explore the beauty of the Namib Desert on an evening game drive. (D)

Day 2: Sossusvlei Safaris

Today explore the largest conservation area in Namibia, and the site of some of Africa's most breathtaking scenery. See the four Namib-Rand distinct natural habitats - steep, rocky mountain ranges, enormous savannahs, vegetated dunes of deep red sand, and clay pans. Look for the prolific antelope, including the predominant Oryx gazelle, and springbok that inhabit the park, as well as its more than 100 bird species.

You are free to choose from a range of lodge activities including various day and evening desert nature drives and dune walks – each led by an expert local guide. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Sossusvlei to Northern Damaraland

The best way to view Namibia’s landscapes is to see them from the air – and today you have that experience as you fly over the Skeleton Coast. Fly above the desert dunes to the Atlantic coast, to spot the diamond camps and Namibia Coast shipwrecks strewn along the interminable expanse of sand.

Flying north, you arrive in Northern Damaraland. You are met upon arrival and taken to your accommodations set on the private Torra Wildlife Conservancy.

Located in one of the most pristine wilderness areas in Namibia, the Huab River Valley, the Damaraland Camp offers panoramic vistas of stark plains, ancient valleys and the soaring Brandberg Mountains. This special camp integrates the local community and environment through sustainable ecotourism. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Northern Damaraland Exploration

Activities at Damaraland Camp revolve around exploring the Haub River system. Enjoy guided morning and afternoon drives in search for desert-adapted elephants. Gemsbok, greater kudu, springbok, and occasionally lion, cheetah, elephants and black rhino can also be spotted. There are also guided mountain bike excursions, as well as nature and cultural walks.

You can also take an excursion to view the famous rock engravings, the Twyfelfontein etchings, Namibia’s first World Heritage Site. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Northern Damaraland to Ongava Game Reserve

Today depart Northern Damaraland on a flight bound for the Etosha National Park, one of the greatest wildlife parks in Africa. You are met upon arrival, and then taken to the Ongava Lodge, your home for the next two nights.

The Lodge is located adjacent to Etosha National Park, and inside Ongava Game Reserve, one of the largest game reserves in Namibia, covering more than 125 square miles. This afternoon, explore this area of vast plant life and vegetation unique in Namibia. (B, L, D)

Be prepared for rare sightings of lion, wildebeest, zebra, cheetah, leopard, giraffe and uncountable others. More than 110 animal species make their homes in Etosha National Park, including several rare and endangered species including the black rhino and black-faced impala. Etosha’s elephants are reputed to be the largest in Africa.

Explorations in the Ongava Game Reserve will give you the unique opportunity to see both black and white rhino.

You can explore the area on guided games drives, or on guided nature walks, hikes or photo excursions. Tracking white rhino on foot with a guide is a highlight! (B, L, D)
