Tour Itinerary
Day 1, Monday - Johannesburg, South Africa
Private transfer from Johannesburg International Airport or Lanseria, the preferred General Aviation airport to the Westcliff Hotel, an exclusive property with spectacular views and a favorite of visiting heads of state.
(Optional pre-safari day on Sunday, September 20th available with accommodations at the Westcliff Hotel.)
Days 2 & 3, Tuesday & Wednesday - Okavango Delta, Botswana
Fly to Maun, gateway to the Okavango Delta. Private transfer to Nxabega Safari Camp or Sandibe Camp. Experienced Africa rangers and Botswana trackers will lead you on an exhilarating game drive in the Moremi Game Reserve.
Day 4, Thursday - Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
Morning game drive in the Okavango Delta, then fly to Victoria Falls. Private transfer to the Victoria Falls Hotel set in Victoria Falls National Park with a private path to the cascading Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River.
Days 5 & 6, Friday & Saturday - South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
Fly from Victoria Falls to the South Luangwa Game Reserve with private transfer to Mfuwe Lodge. Performance by the Seka Theatre Group, a remarkable theatre presentation in the bush. Morning and evening game drives on Day 6.
Days 7 & 8, Sunday & Monday - Lake Malawi, Malawi
Fly to Malawi, a beautiful and peaceful country as yet discovered by only a few Western travelers. Transfer to Club Makokola on the shores of Lake Malawi, which has the richest variety of tropical fish anywhere in the world. Relax at the Club, swim or snorkel in the clear waters, explore the area or visit the historical town of Mangochi.
On Day 8 visit the Mua Mission to enjoy a traditional ritual dance followed by the opportunity to purchase artwork and the best carvings in the world at the Kungoni Crafts Center.
Days 9 & 10, Tuesday & Wednesday - Bazaruto Island, Mozambique
Fly to a private airstrip at the Indigo Bay Resort. Bazaruto Island, the largest of an archipelago of islands, is one of Africa’s premier scuba diving destinations. Enjoy a wide range of beach and leisure activities.
Days 11 & 12, Thursday & Friday - Phinda Private Game Reserve, Zululand
Fly to Phinda, a vast game reserve with an abundance of wildlife – including Africa’s Big Five and over 380 bird species. Private transfer to Phinda Forest Lodge. Enjoy a spectacular stilted suite in this award winning lodge. Twice-daily game drives and nature walks.
Day 13, Saturday - Kwandwe Game Reserve, Eastern Cape
Fly from Phinda on a spectacular flight above the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains and Transkei Wild Coast. Private transfer to Kwandwe, a member of Relais & Chateaux and to the Fish River Lodge and Ecca Lodge. Guided exploration of this Big Five game wilderness in 4x4 drive safari vehicles.
Days 14 & 15, Sunday & Monday - Plettenberg Bay, South Africa
The Plettenberg is a 5-star Relais & Chateaux with breathtaking vistas of the sea, mountains and golden sands. Dining on the evening of the first day will be with invited guests from the town of Plettenberg Bay, an opportunity for interesting conversations with local area residents. The second day at Plettenberg can be a day at leisure or the opportunity to see the highlights of the Garden Route by luxury coach.
Day 16, Tuesday - Safari Ostrich Farm, Oudtshoorn & Klein Karroo Desert
Commercial ostrich farming was once one of the leading industries in South Africa and has left some remarkable vestiges of those glorious days. Visit the Safari Ostrich Show Farm to see large flocks of ostriches at different stages of development and learn about every aspect of ostrich farming. Adventurous travelers may even try their hand at riding an ostrich! Shop for the finest ostrich leather articles. Fly along the Cape coast with its spectacular views of Cape Town. Private transfer along the foothills of Table Mountain to the serene 5-star Relais & Chateaux Cellars-Hohenort Hotel.
Days 17 & 18, Wednesday & Thursday - Cape Peninsula, South Africa
Explore the area with a distinguished Cape Town resident with visits to “must see” places and exclusive excursions to locations that few visitors see. The choices include a private tasting of award-winning wines at a famous vineyard, a visit with community leaders, a private tour of the Parliament with an opportunity to meet MPs and a horticulturalist-led visit to the spectacular Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens.
Day 19, Friday - Cape Town and Return Home
Morning visit to the Table Bay Waterfront, a bustling shopping, entertainment and museum district. Mid-afternoon transfer to the airport for outgoing flights.
