Tour Itinerary

Day 1: USA or Canada/Cape Town, South Africa

Board your flight to Cape Town.

Day 2: Cape Town

With Table Mountain serving as a dramatic backdrop to one of the most beautiful harbor cities in the world, Cape Town is the perfect beginning to your Southern Africa adventure. Your representative meets you at the airport, and you are transferred to your luxurious waterfront hotel. This newly refashioned hotel offers warmth and elegant style in the custom-decorated guest rooms and is located on its own private quay near the shopping and entertainment attractions of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.Cape Grace

Day 3: Cape Town

Drive through Cape Town to flat-topped Table Mountain and ascend to the top by cable car for a panoramic view of both city and sea. Take a refreshing stroll through Company Gardens, a large tranquil park with a lush collection of plant life. Continue to the Castle of Good Hope, the oldest building in South Africa. This fivepointed stone castle was built to protect the Cape amid rumors of war between Britain and the Netherlands. This evening, gather with your fellow travellers for a festive welcome dinner. Day 4: Cape Town/Stellenbosch

Explore the Cape Peninsula and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, home to the rare bontebok. Covering 22,000 acres, the reserve converges at Cape Point, a great pinnacle of rock. Ride the funicular to the top from where you may see southern right whale in spring and early summer. Visit a colony of endangered African penguin at Boulders Beach before stopping for a harborside lunch. Your evening is at leisure.Asara Wine Estate & Hotel B L

Day 5: Stellenbosch

Today, you will enjoy a full day of activities in the famous Cape winelands, set below the dramatic "Hottentots Holland" mountain range. Explore Stellenbosch on foot with your private specialist guide who discusses its historic significance and its place in the contemporary wine industry. View areas of great architectural heritage, including examples of Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian properties situated among rows of beautiful oak trees. Your walk finishes at the fascinating Village Museum, which chronicles the town's past and incorporates the oldest existing house, dating back to 1709. Afterward, sample some of the Cape's award-winning wines at a renowned Stellenbosch wine estate. Continue to the quaint Huguenot village of Franschhoek and enjoy a cheese tasting paired with wines. Travel across the stunning countryside to historic Paarl, passing the Victor Verster Prison from which former president Nelson Mandela was released in 1990. Return to your hotel in the late afternoon.Asara Wine Estate & Hotel B L

Day 6: Cape Town/Johannesburg/Mala Mala Game Reserve

This morning fly via Johannesburg to the renowned Mala Mala Game Reserve, privately owned big game territory bordering the Kruger National Park. Enjoy a scenic transfer with game-viewing en route, and this afternoon set off on your first game drive in search of the "Big Five" (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) and a wide variety of other animals.Mala Mala Main Camp B L D

Day 7: Mala Mala Game Reserve

Spend your day immersed in the drama of life in the bush. Your schedule is determined by the habits of the animals that you have come to see. Safari drives leave early in the morning and late in the afternoon in open vehicles. Guides are renowned for their extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of South Africa and love to share their enthusiasm with their guests. You may also participate in a walking safari — an exhilarating way to view wildlife at ground level and track game in the bush. Walks are generally taken after breakfast and guests are always accompanied by a skilled ranger. At dusk, search for nocturnal animals on a night dame drive.Mala
