Day 1:
Arrive in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel. The balance of the Day is at leisure.
Day 2:
Explore the Cape Peninsula and the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Visit endangered African penguin colonies at Boulders Beach before touring the world-renowned Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. Learn some of the more fascinating aspects of the gardens from a private local guide.
Day 3:
Enjoy panoramic views of the city and sea from Table Mountain, then explore historic Cape Town. Later, board a flight to Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve, known for its rock art and declared a South African Natural Heritage site. Discover the magnificent environment on an evening nature drive. View some of the plains' indigenous game including the rare and endangered Cape mountain zebra, bontebok, gemsbok and eland.
Day 4:
Accompanied by your guide, embark on an excursion to view the world-renowned Bushman rock art, which dates back 10,000 years. A special afternoon activity program includes mountain biking, walks in the reserve, bird watching, archery, painting, flyfishing, canoeing or relaxing at the lodge.
Days 5-6:
From Johannesburg drive to Sterkfontein to the "Cradle of Humankind," a UNESCO World Heritage Site believed to be one of the places where humans evolved. Visit the private working site of Drimolen, where excavations are ongoing year-round. Access to this site has been exclusively arranged for you.
Days 7-9:
Fly to Jack's Camp in Botswana's Makgadikgadi Pans. A safari to Jack's Camp is a complete desert experience, focusing on species unique to the area. Your daily itinerary is determined by the seasons, and may include exploration of remote archaeological sites on four-wheel-drive, all-terrain vehicles, interacting with a family of meerkat, game drives in search of the rare and elusive brown hyena and walking with the Zu'hoasi Bushmen trackers for a glimpse into their ancient culture.
Day 10:
Transfer to the airport to board your onward flight.
