Day 2 Arrive Johannesburg

You will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. They came from far and wide to strike it rich when gold was discovered here in 1886, and the “City of Gold” still pulsates with entrepreneurial energy.

Days 3 Soweto half day cultural tour

Visit Soweto home to over 2 million people who, despite living in crowded and chaotic conditions, have a tangible sense of community. Visit the Hector Peterson Museum and learn the cause of the riots. Visit Regina Mondi Church, site of underground meetings of the then banned political parties.

Apartheid Museum half day tour

Embark on a discovery of the racial segregation experienced by millions of South Africans a mere decade ago. Excellent displays on the Soweto uprising culminate in the birth of a new democratic country, with the inauguration of Nelson Mandela as President.

Day 4 Lesedi half day cultural village tour

Learn about the diversity of cultures whilst being taken on a walking tour through the traditional villages of Zulu, Ndebele, Sotho, Pedi and Xhosa tribes. Lesedi dancers demonstrate traditional African dances. Sample traditional African dishes at Nyama Choma – the greatest African feast.

Day 5 Fly Johannesburg to Cape Town

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 6 Walk to Freedom full day tour

Visit the vibrant Bo-Kaap (Malay Quarter), the District Six Museum, Langa and Guguletu. Sample township life with a visit to an informal spaza (shop) and shebeen (pub). Cruise to Robben Island and walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela.

Day 7 Cape Town half day city tour

After a cable car ride up Table Mountain, walk through historic Company Gardens, home of the Houses of Parliament. Continue to Greenmarket Square flea market and the Cape Malay Quarter. Explore the Castle and visit a diamond workshop.

Days 8 At leisure, Cape Town

Cape Town is indescribably beautiful and is steeped in fascinating history. Ride a cable-car to the top of Table Mountain or meander through the South African Winelands.

Day 9 Fly Cape Town to USA (Via Johannesburg)

Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
