Nine days is a perfect amount of time to explore South Africa’s most charming city and the nearby Winelands region and then spend several relaxing days at one of the country’s finest game lodges. Start with three nights at Cape Cadogan, a charming boutique property in a fashionable area of Cape Town known for its trendy cafes, shops and restaurants. On two separate day trips, explore the beautiful Cape Peninsula and the city of Cape Town, where the Victoria & Albert Waterfront bustles with boutiques, cafes, markets and restaurants. Weather permitting, take a cable car to the top of Table Mountain for breathtaking views of the coast. From Cape Town, head to Klein Genot in the famed Winelands, where elegant Cape Dutch estates are set amid rolling green vineyards; lovers of fine food, wine, and gracious architecture will be delighted at this portion of the trip. After savoring the diverse pleasures of Cape Town and its environs, fly to Mpumalanga and settle into the opulent Lion Sands River Lodge for four nights. Enjoy morning and evening game drives as well as guided bush walks led by a professional ranger. After three full days on safari, return to Johannesburg for your departure flight.
