10 Days Roman Treasures of Tunisia Tour Packages
Duration: 10 Days / 9 Nights Priced From: $3495 pp Dbl. Occ. Dates: Jun - Dec

Tunisia is caught between the Mediterranean Sea and the Sahara Desert and the people of this fascinating country have learned to negotiate both sides. The Romans, Vandals, Byzantines, Spaniards, Turks and most recently the French, have all left their imprint.
Tunis is a relatively modern French Colonial town and displays an array of juxtapositions, as white domes stand next to Art Nouveau buildings. Today, inhabitants may kneel five times a day towards Mecca, but they take their fashion cues from Les Champs Elysées. It's a city fueled on croissants in the morning and couscous at night. Tour the Bardo National Museum, housed in the former Palace of the Bey. The museum hosts one of the finest collections of mosaics in the world.
You will visit the great Roman cities at Dougga, Sufetula, and the Coliseum at El Jem—in many ways finer than its famous cousin in Rome. Your base will be in the ancient Arab town of Kairouan in an exquisite restored Casbah. Explore the ruins of Carthage, whose powerful Punic civilization pursued territorial ambitions against the Romans.
Quaint seaside villages dot the Mediterranean coastline of Tunisia: You'll lunch on locally caught seafood at Mahdia, as well as tour Sidi Bou Said, with its shining whitewashed dwellings, carved stone doorways, bright blue doors and delicate window grills.
