Inspired by Uganda’s great physical beauty, Sir Winston Churchill named it the “Pearl of Africa,” and the country maintains its beauty to this day. This is a land of contrasts—from the snow-capped peaks of the Rwenzori Mountains to the tropical, sandy, freshwater beaches along the lakeshores and smiling faces wherever you go, Uganda is a feast for the senses.

Our classic journey will take you chimpanzee tracking in the Semliki Reserve, to traditional Ugandan fishing villages and in search of the rare Shoebill Stork on the shores of Lake Albert. Search for tree-climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park and venture by boat out on the Kazinga Channel to see pods of hippos and crocodiles. Walk in the mysterious Maramagambo Forest with wildlife all its own, and view the flamingo lakes in Kyambura.

At Murchison Falls National Park, a boat cruise on the Nile reveals hippos, buffalo, crocodiles and an incredible array of birdlife dotting the shores of this magnificent river system. Finally head to the far north of the country and the Kidepo Valley National Park. Here,Apoka Lodge’s ten spacious tented rooms offer the most astounding views out across the plains to the jagged mountains in the distance.

Accommodation throughout is in traditionally styled safari camps and lodges: Semliki, one of Uganda’s smallest and most intimate camps; Mweya, overlooking the spectacular Kazinga Channel; Paraa, with views of the Nile River; and Uganda’s newest and most stunning safari lodge, Apoka Lodge in the far north.

Fly to Semliki Wildlife Reserve, safari activities at Semliki, Semliki Safari Lodge.

Days 4-5
ransfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, safari activities, Mweya Safari Lodge

Days 6-7
Fly to Murchison Falls National Park, game-viewing, Paraa Safari Lodge.

Days 8-10
Fly to Kidepo Valley National Park, game-viewing, Apoka Lodge.

Day 11
Fly to Kampala and depart.
