Begin your journey in India's capital, Delhi, a microcosm of India's old and new with its skyscrapers overlooking the fortresses of past dynasties.

Travel to Gwalior with its famed fort that was once seat to several great dynasties, each contributing to the legacy of monuments and museums.

A day's drive takes you to Panna National Park, where you will stay at the Taj Safari's new jungle lodge—Pashan Garh. Then this tour takes you to Varanasi—the spiritual heart of India, including a stay at Taj Hotel's renovated boutique palace Nadesar. Throughout your journey you will experience the splendid sights and sounds of India, an astonishing land of contrasts.

Day 1

Arrive Delhi. Hotel Taj Palace

Day 2

Old Delhi. Tour Delhi including visits to the Red Fort, Jama Masjid Mosque and Raj Ghat, site of Gandhi's memorial. Rickshaw ride through the bustling streets of the Chandni Chowk Bazaar. Taj Palace

Day 3

Delhi to Gwalior. Morning express train to Gwalior. Visit the tomb of Mohammad Ghaus. Usha Kiran Palace

Day 4

Gwalior. Tour Gwalior Fort, with an evening light show at the fort (if available). Usha Kiran Palace

Day 5

Gwalior to Panna. Express train to Jhansi. Tour the old palace fortress. Road transfer Panna via Khajuraho. Pashan Garh

Day 6

Panna National Park. Early this morning 'hunt' the Bengal Tiger. Afternoon game drive. Pashan Garh

Day 7

Panna - Khajuraho. Morning game drive. Following breakfast, drive to Khajuraho and tour the site. Return to Panna for mid-afternoon game viewing. Pashan Garh

Day 8

Panna National Park. Early morning and afternoon game drives. Pashan Garh

Day 9

Panna to Varanasi. Early game drive, then fly to Varanasi. Car and bicycle rickshaw to the ghats, where you will board your private launch for a sunset cruise on the Ganges River. Nadesar Palace

Day 10

Varanasi. Sunrise boat ride Ghats on the River Ganges. Then, walk along the ghats, observing the many temples with pilgrims at their daily prayers. Visit the sights of Sarnath. Nadesar Palace

Day 11

Varanasi to Lucknow. Drive to Lucknow (with packed lunch). Taj Residency

Day 12

Lucknow. Explore this city's sights, including a bicycle rickshaw ride through its market and bazaar late in the day. Taj Residency

Day 13

Lucknow to Delhi. Late morning fly to Delhi. Taj Palace

Days 14-15

Delhi. Tour the highlights of New Delhi. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon at leisure. Evening transfer to the international airport for your flight home, or early departure on Day 15.
