Day 1: Depart USA Your luxury journey begins as you board your flight to Asia.
Day 2: Arrive Mumbai (Bombay), India Touch down late tonight in Mumbai, an exciting start to your India adventure. your host welcomes you and escorts you to your elegant, luxury hotel overlooking the Arabian. Day 4: Mumbai / Udaipur Fly to one of India’s finest scenic areas. Udaipur is an enchanted landscape of fairytale palaces, green hills and exotic bazaars. Day 06: Udaipur / Jaipur Today, fly to the colorful city of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan. This pink-hued city feels like a vast open-air museum of bazaars, gardens and fanciful architecture... Day 07: Jaipur Amber Palace rises in rose-colored majesty over the desert. Travel as the royal rajahs once did – by elephant up huge ramparts to the palace to view the grand walled city of Mughal courtyards, gardens and royal apartments. Back in the city, explore City Palace and its prized glass works and figurines. The Palace of the Winds features a delicate, pink honeycombed wall designed as a privacy screen for royal harems. See 17th -century Royal Observatory. This evening, stroll the city with your guide. A delightful mix of camels, elephants, and free-roaming cows are all part of the daily traffic. Day 08: Jaipur This morning, head to the Kirpal Singh Shekhawat Blue Pottery School. The traditional techniques for creating Jaipur’s blue pottery had nearly been lost to the world. Muralist and painter, Kirpal Singh Shekhawat, was asked to found a school that would pass on the craft. He not only revived the art, but mastered it himself and became famous in the process. In 2002, Kirpal Singh was honored with the title of Shilp Guru, a living treasure. Tour the school and enjoy a hands-on course in creating this famous local art. Day 09: Jaipur / Bharatpur / Fatehpur Sikri / Agra Your week in Rajasthan concludes as you proceed to Fatehpur Sikri. This 16th-century city was abandoned after just 18 years, but its stone palaces remain largely intact. End your day in Agra with a stunning sunset at the Taj Mahal. You will long remember this scene as the Taj changes color and mood, its marble walls reflecting the pinks and mauves of the receding sun. Day 10: Agra Your family visits a local school in the area surrounding Agra. You gain a glimpse at the education system in India, and possibly allow your accompanying young explorers to make new friends their own age in India. (Schools open after July only). The balance of the day is free to relax at your resort. Built in a style inspired by Moorish and Mughal architecture, the resort is a splendid display of terraced lawns, fountains, reflection pools and pavilions with rich interiors that take you back to an era of emperors and princes. Day 11: Agra / Delhi Drive back to Delhi, arriving this afternoon. The balance of the day is at leisure as you get acquainted with your new accommodations. Tour the extravagant Red Fort. Tonight, celebrate your family’s adventures at a gala dinner party in the private residence of India Manager, Tapas Banerjee, and his wife, Krishna. This evening is designed to acquaint you with the lifestyle of Indian family life.
