Wildflower Hall Hotel Accommodations
The 87 suites and rooms offer spectacular views over the cedar forests, mountain ranges or the gardens.Every room has a spacious marble bathroom with separate shower and walk-in closets and personalised butler service. 3 Deluxe Suites feature a separate living room with a fireplace. In addition, the very grand Lord Kitchener Suite has a four-poster bed in the master suite and a second bedroom.

Recreation Scenic Walks
Miles of unspoilt countryside, apple orchards and wild flowers in spring create the setting for Wildflower Hall. Let the region work its magic on you as you explore little known paths and follow tracks into the forest. We have mapped out trails that suit everyone, so you could go on a challenging walk, stroll along woodland lanes or take a route that offers a glimpse of colonial history. Not bound by clock or calendar, the world will be yours alone.
Trail 1 - Oaks & Orchards Hike Distance: 6 km Duration: 2 1 /2 hrs Grade: Easy
This is an easy-paced, three-hour hike that skirts Mashobra Hill and loops around the Presidential Retreat – a beautiful colonial bungalow used by the President of India as a summer retreat. The forest trail descends from the helipad, a glorious viewpoint on a hilltop adjacent to the Wildflower Hall. It then winds back through thick oak forests and apple orchards dotted with colonial cottages.
Trail 2 - The Wild Strawberry Trail Distance: 4 km Duration: 1 hr Grade: Easy
A pleasant walk lasting an hour and covering four kilometres, skirting the Shimla Water Catchment Sanctuary. The trail loops astride the Mahasu Ridge through the lush green forest reserve and is suitable for the elderly on account of its gentle gradient. This trail is also a wonderful introduction to the flora of the Himalayas and offers some great views.
Trail 3 - The Sanctuary Trail Option A Option B Distance: 7 km Distance: 12 km Duration: 2 1 /2 hrs Duration: 5 hrs Grade: Moderate Grade: Challenging
The Shimla Water Catchment Sanctuary surrounds the Wildflower Hall on three sides. There are two options for exploratory walks into the sanctuary famous for its abundant and well-preserved flora and fauna. One is a two to three hour hike into the sanctuary that traverses a tiny trail carved through the lush undergrowth. The second is a longer, five-hour hike across the dense and pristine forest within the sanctuary, an area that has been preserved for the past 125 years and home to a variety of rare birds and animals. Mountain Bicycling
The landscape beckons the adventurer as the bicycling trails pass through woods of cedar, spruce and pine. In spring, wild flowers set the hillsides ablaze in a riot of colour. Choose a challenging trail or pick an easy-paced ride. Cross hamlets where life has followed a steady pace for years. Pass through forests whose majestic trees have stood undisturbed for centuries. The experiences of a single day allows you to take back memories for a lifetime.
Trail 1 - The Sylvan Trail Distance: 18 km Duration: 4 hrs Grade: Easy
The trail starts from Mashobra village, a twenty minutes drive from the Wildflower Hall. The trail from Mashobra to Bekhalty is a level road that skirts the hill on which the Wildflower Hall is located. Picturesque villages dot the road and the entire biking stretch provides some beautiful views of the Great Himalayan Range and the Shali peak that dominates the north-western skyline. The track joins the highway at Bekhalty, another small hamlet from where our vehicle picks the bikers up for the thirty minute drive back to the Wildflower Hall.

Horse Riding
A ride on horseback through forest trails in the bracing mountain air sets your pulse racing. The undulating trails pass through apple orchards and dense groves of cedar and oak trees. Feel the invigorating power of the mountains as each new bend and turn in the path reveals panoramic views. In the clear light of the morning sun or in the glow that paints the hillsides a burnished gold in the evening, Nature and you are in complete harmony.
Trail 1 – The Old Highway Trail Distance: 8 km Duration: 3 hrs Grade: Easy
Most of this trail takes you along the original Hindoostan-Tibet Road which was constructed in 1853. It skirts Mashobra Hill and winds around the Presidential Retreat – the summer residence of the President of India. The forest trail descends from the helipad, a wonderful viewpoint on a hill adjacent to the Wildflower Hall. It then winds back through oak forests and apple orchards.
Trail 2 – The Bridle Path Distance: 6 km Duration: 2 hrs Grade: Challenging
This trail initially loops through the forest south of the Wildflower Hall. From the main gate, it follows a tarmac road to the helipad that offers a breathtaking 360 degree view of the mountains and valleys. From here, the trail leads to the Presidential Retreat, a beautiful gabled bungalow, once used by the Viceroys as a weekend retreat.
Trail 3 – The Hillock Trail Distance: 1.5 km Duration: 30 mins Grade: Easy
This short riding trail goes more than a few steps back in time. It loops within the twenty-two acres on which the Wildflower Hall is located. This picturesque, easy-paced ride through the dense groves of cedar actually retraces the century-old tracks of Lord Kitchener’s horse as the route was part of his daily trot around the property. River Rafting Riding the rapids is to experience the thrill of an encounter with the powerful forces of wind and water. Originating from the fabled Mansarovar lake on the western highlands of Tibet, the river Sutlej slices through several Himalayan ranges, carving out some of the deepest gorges in the world. Through magnificent canyons, fields, hamlets, and pristine sandy beaches, the river makes its panoramic passage. Discover the secrets of the river as you follow its course.
Course 1 - White Water Magic Distance: 40 km Duration: 4 hrs No. of rapids: 18 Class: I to III+
The drive to Pandoah takes two hours, the final stretch of which runs parallel to the river and is a visual prelude to the rafting experience. This thrilling river run courses between Pandoah and Tattapani and is a combination of gentle passages and ‘roller coaster’ torrents. The trip ends at Chabba, where a vehicle awaits for the return to the Wildflower Hall.
Season: 1st April - 1st July and 15th September - 30th November. Dates are subject to weather conditions.The river can be run from 1st December - 31st March as well. However, an advance booking period of five days is required.
Course 2 - Quick Silver Distance: 12 km Duration: 1 hr No. of rapids: 5 Class: I to III
This is an ideal trip for families and for those who want a quick introduction to the thrills of rafting. The drive to Chaba meanders through picturesque countryside, punctuated by small hamlets, orchards and fields. This is a relatively short drive and you have the option of a picnic breakfast at Craignano before proceeding to Chaba. The five rapids on the run fall between categories I and III. After the run, and as a preliminary to the spa at the Wildflower Hall, you can soak in hot sulphur springs at Tattapani and visit the Shiva temple.

Golf Tee off from Asia’s highest golf course at Naldehra, a 45 minute drive from the Wildflower Hall. This nine-hole course was designed by Lord Curzon in 1904 and was a favourite camping ground for the Viceroys in the late eighteen hundreds. The course is cleverly laid out and is decidedly tricky. A round takes about an hour to complete. The Wildflower Hall provides quality golf clubs on hire and also arranges entry to the course.
