For those visitors to Japan who wish to combine the well-known must sees such as Tokyo and Kyoto with a glimpse of parts of Japan which are extremely interesting yet not commercial, this itinerary is perfect. You will come away with a well-rounded experience and an insight into both modern and traditional Japan. Travel through beautiful countryside, marvel at unique villages and ancient towns and experience the urban hustle and bustle of large cosmopolitan cities.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive Tokyo. Upon arrival into Tokyo, you will be met and given the appropriate bus tickets for the transfer to your hotel. The representative will show you the departure point for the bus. Check-in to your hotel and spend the remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 2. Tokyo sightseeing. Morning tour, including the Imperial Palace Plaza, Asakusa Kannon Temple, Tokyo Tower, Tasaki Pearl Gallery and drive through the Ginza District. The afternoon is free to explore this amazing city. B
Day 3. Tokyo to Hakone. Leave Tokyo by bus for Hakone National Park. En route, drive half way up Mount Fuji for a view of the surrounding countryside. Later enjoy a cruise on Lake Ashi followed by a cable car ride to the top of Mount Komagatake where you will have a spectacular view of Mount Fuji. Overnight at Hakone Hotel Kowakien. BL
Day 4. Hakone to Takayama. You will be transferred to Kyoto Station for the rail journey to Takayama via Nagoya. On arrival, transfer to your hotel in the afternoon, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Takayama including Yatai Kaikan Hall, Kusakabe Folkcraft Museum and a stroll in the old town called the Kamisannomachi District. B Overnight in Takayama.
Day 5. Takayama to Kanazawa. This morning, visit the famous morning fruit and vegetable market. Travel later by road to Kanazawa visiting the World Heritage site of Shirakawago Village with its very interesting straw thatched quaint houses. This is followed by a visit to Lake Miboro with its huge dam and also Gokayama Village. Overnight in Kanazawa. B
Day 6. Kanazawa to Kyoto. A morning sightseeing tour of Kanazawa includes the Kenrokuen Garden, the Kutaniyaki Pottery Kiln and the Nagamachi Samurai House. In the evening, you will be given assistance to the station for your rail journey to Kyoto Upon arrival in Kyoto, transfer to your hotel. B
Day 7. Kyoto sightseeing. Morning tour includes the Golden Pavilion, Nijo Castle and the Kyoto Imperial Palace (Palace tour closed on weekends) and the Handicraft Centre. The afternoon is free to explore this fascinating city further. B
Day 8. Kyoto to Osaka Airport. At leisure until ready to depart by train to Osaka Airport. B
