This program allows time for visitors to venture off the beaten path and explore some of the lesser-known areas of Laos. The trip starts in Luang Prabang, where you will tour this charming ancient capital and the nearby caves at Pak Ou and local villages. A highlight of Luang Prabang is an opportunity to witness monks in their morning meal procession and to tour Luang Prabang’s beautiful temples. After exploring the town, fly to Vientiane though it is the capital of Laos, the city still maintains a good deal of charm. Fly next to Pakse, the southern provincial capital, and your starting point for full exploration of the wild beauty of this southern region. Tour Alak villages, and then spend a night by the Tad Lo waterfalls. Return to Pakse by road and float along the Mekong River to see the ruins of Wat Phu, one of Southeast Asia’s most dramatically situated temples. Explore these Khmer ruins, perched atop a nearby hill, before driving to Khong Island. This region of waterfalls, islands, and lush vegetation near the Cambodian border is teeming with wildlife and is one of the loveliest destinations in Laos. Tour the surrounding countryside, then transfer to the airport for your departure flight.
