16 Days Burmah Trader Tour Package

Duration:
16 Days / 15 Nights
Priced From: $5,235 pp Dbl. Occ.
Dates: Jan - Dec

The first permanent settlers came to Myanmar from the east in about 200 B.C. and named the lush area they discovered “Golden Land.” This unspoiled land is bordered in the north and east with mountains rich in minerals and teak; through its center runs its lifeblood: the Ayeyarwady River, creating a massive fertile river plain in the south. It is home to a devoutly Buddhist, hardworking and hospitable people who are eager to show off their country.

Itinerary

Day 1
Yangon, formerly British Rangoon
Yangon retains much of its old world charm. Explore the colonial buildings, tour the Shwedagon Pagoda covered in 60 tons of gold leaf, and have tea at the Strand, a colonial landmark along the river. Your hotel, full of tropical ambience, is set in the diplomatic district. Governor’s Residence

Days 2 - 3
Bagan, Land of Pagodas
Tour the ancient capital Bagan, home to over 5,000 pagodas, many of which are being carefully restored. Visit a laquerware workshop to learn how this ancient craft is painstakingly created. In the evening watch the sun set over the Ayeyarwady River and return to your hotel nestled amid the antiquated spires. Thiripyitsaya Sakura Hotel

Days 4 - 5
Cruising on the Ayeyarwady
Your journey by boat to Mandalay takes you to typical river villages such as Myaidaw and Yandabo. Explore these villages where time has stood still. RV Pandaw 1947

Days 6 - 7
On the Road to Mandalay
In Mandalay, you’ll find the cultural heart of Myanmar. Visit exquisitely carved Shwenandaw Monastery and the Kuthodaw Pagoda, containing the world’s largest book—massive marble slabs engraved with Buddhist scriptures. Mandalay Hill Resort

Days 8 - 10
Kyaing Tong and the Hill Tribes
At local villages you’ll see the people of the Akha and Lahu tribes. Trek further into the hills and you’ll encounter the Ann tribe with their traditional black garb. The friendly Akha tribe can also be visited the next day high in the hills near Hokyin Mountain. Princess Hotel

Day 11
Kalaw Hill Station
In Kalaw, a charming colonial hill station in the Shan State, meet some of the fascinating people of the region’s different tribes. Amara Resort

Days 12 - 13
The Floating Farms of Inle Lake
Explore the lake area by boat to see the Intha tribe’s floating farms and special fishing methods. Visit a Palaung tribal village to observe their daily life. Inle Princess Resort
