Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive Yangon. On arrival in Yangon, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for overnight accommodation.
Day 2. Yangon. Today you will begin with a city tour which will take you to the diplomatic area, highlighting some of the rich colonial architecture dating back from the British occupation and to the downtown area where stops will be made at famous landmarks including the Sule Pagoda, over 2,000 years old. Lunch at one of Yangon's finest restaurants. After lunch visit some of the most beautiful temples in the world including the Chauk Htat Gyi Reclining Buddha followed by shopping in at Bogyoke Market. Before sunset, visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, the most famous landmark in Yangon.
Day 3. Yangon to Mandalay. Early morning flight to Mandalay. On arrival transfer to Amarpaura, 11 km south of Mandalay one of the capitals of the third Myanmar Empire. Visit the Mahagandayone Monastery to gain an insight into the life and culture of the Burmese. Also visit one of Mandalay's silk weaving factories. Later, check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, visit to the Mahamuni Pagoda, an icon which is regarded as sacred. The image is considered to be the greatest in Myanmar next to the Shwedagon. Also visit the Golden Palace Monastery and in the evening, the Kuthodaw Pagoda, home to the world's largest book and in the evening drive to the top of Mandalay hill for a view of the sunset over Mandalay.
Day 4. Mandalay/Bagan. The greatest attraction of Myanmar is the natural and untouched beauty of the country. On the drive from Mandalay to Bagan much of this beauty and culture can be observed. Early morning departure for the serene drive to Bagan. On the way, visit Mt Popa, the once volcanic mountain. In the afternoon arrive in Bagan. At the end of the day relax while enjoying the sunset at Bupaya overlooking the banks of the Irrawaddy River.
Day 5. Bagan. To truly appreciate the beauty of Bagan, you will rise very early and take a traditional horse cart to the Ywa Haunggyi Temple to see the sun rise over this majestic land from the top of the Pagoda. Return to the hotel for breakfast. Later, visit the Shwezigon Pagoda then continue to the Gubyaukgyi Pagoda, a 13th Century temple with a spire resembling the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodha Gaya in India, noted for its wall paintings depicting scenes from the previous lives of Buddha. Next are Htilominlo Pagoda and the Ananda Temple. Lunch then return to your hotel. Bagan is also famous for its artistic handicrafts and lacquerware. Visit a local lacquerware store. At the end of the day a relaxing sunset can be seen from the Mingalazedu Pagoda.
Day 6. Bagan/Yangon. Fly today to Yangon where the day can be spent at leisure, shopping or sightseeing. After lunch, transfer to Yangon airport for departure to your next destination.
