The most unforgettable aspect of the trip is a helicopter journey passing close to the faces of the mountains of the Himalayas, to the inaccessible Tengboche Monastery with its magnificent views over Mt. Everest.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Kathmandu, Nepal Today you will arrive at Kathmandu Airport. Upon arrival and completion of immigration formalities at Kathmandu airport you will be met by your representative and escorted to your hotel. Historic Dwarika's Hotel is a living museum of traditional Nepali architecture, where each of the comfortable rooms has is own character, decorated with native textiles and art.
Once you have had the opportunity to freshen up, you will be escorted to the temple complex of Bodinath, which is home to some 10,000 Tibetan refugees. The complex is located 15 minutes from the hotel. Upon return to your hotel with your guide, you will enjoy dinner in a traditional Nepal setting. Dwarika's Hotel
Day 2 Helicopter Trip to Mt. Everest Today you will experience Signature Event in Nepal—Mt. Everest: Roof of the World. You will be transferred to the airport with your guide to meet your Everest summiteers who will accompany you on your helicopter flight to Tengboche Monastery in the Everest region. The Monastery sits atop a hill at the confluence of the Dudh Kosi and the Imja Khola rivers and has superb views of Mt. Everest. Your flight will last one hour and you will land in two places [including Tengboche] to view the mountains and surrounding scenery. Your return flight will also last one hour. Your summiteers guide will provide you with additional insight into the culture of the region as well as having an intimate knowledge of the mountains. The flight to and from the region will follow the line of the lesser peaks. Upon your return to Kathmandu, return to the hotel for lunch.
In the afternoon, both guides will accompany you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, home of the living goddess to the tourist centre known as Thamel which contains various shops and restaurants. Dinner will be at Rumdoodles, which is a well known restaurant to mountaineers. Any climber who has ascended one of the major peaks has his or her signature on one of the walls. Dwarika's Hotel
Day 3 Day Trip to Bhaktapur After breakfast, you will be escorted with your guide for the 40-minute drive to the medieval town of Bhaktapur where all the artisans of the Kathmandu valley practice their crafts. The town allows no vehicle access so walking around is a pleasure. The town is the most medieval and least modernized of the three ancient capital cities. Here you will visit the Nyatapola Temple, the tallest in Nepal and a fine example of Nepalese architecture and craftsmanship. You will also visit the Palace of Fifty-five Windows with its famous Barking Bell and the Golden Gate, which is said to be the most beautiful and richly molded gate of its kind in the Orient. Lunch will be at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel. The late afternoon is free to relax or for any last minute shopping. Dinner tonight will be at an old palace with your guide. Day 4 Farewell to Nepal This morning you will be transferred to Kathmandu International Airport and check-in for a your on-ward flight
