Sun Moon Lake is the largest fresh water lake in Taiwan and is so termed because its northern end is shaped like the sun and its southern half shaped like a sickle moon. Fanned by jade-green mountains, the lake is famous for its breathtaking scenery and evocative moods. Resting at the center of the lake is the isle of Lalu, a serene place of ancestral worship formerly occupied by the Shao Aboriginal tribe.
In close proximity to The Lalu, there exist a number of glorious temples such as the Wenu Temple, the Hsuantsang as well as tribal villages – the Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village and Sun Moon Village. Guests at The Lalu can also visit the charming Tsuen Pagoda, the artistic Snake Kiln or the Minghu & Mingtan Dams for a unique taste of Taiwanese heritage. The more adventurous ones could embark on boat rides or fishing trips on the lake or even go on the Maolin Hiking Trail, which curves along magical forests of olive and cedar.
The Lalu is located 1.5 hours from Taichung Airport and 3.5 hours from CKS International Airport.
From Taipei to Taichung Airport, there are 20-minute shuttle flights available at NT$1345 one-way. The frequency of flights is almost every 30 minutes, served by 2 airlines: Uni Air and Mandarin Airline.
From Chiang Kai Shek International Airport to The Lalu , you can opt for a one-way transfer by hotel limousine @ NT$6000 (maximum 2 passengers) - 3.5 hours duration

The Two-Bedroom Courtyard Pool Villa features two bedrooms, spacious living and dining areas including a kitchenette. A courtyard which also has its own 12-metre swimming pool, as well as an outdoor dining pavilion.
The Presidential Suite is designed with two luxurious bedrooms, an expansive living room and a kitchenette. A 56-square metre private balcony offering panoramic views of the lake.

The Japanese Restaurant Operating Hours: 1730hrs to 2200hrs – Friday, Saturday and Sunday The Japanese Restaurant serves Tepanyaki and contemporary Japanese cuisine.
The Lobby Bar & Lounge Operating Hours: Daily until 2200hrs The perfect place for a warm cup of tea, a drink before dinner or even just a little lunchtime snack. Relax in front of the fireplace on the balcony, with a glass of specially selected wine and enjoy the beauty of Sun Moon Lake.

Nature Walks and Hiking Trails Many varieties of insects and birds can be found amongst the lush greenery of The Lalu. There are dragonflies, a variety of beautiful butterflies, cicadas, fireflies, Little Egrets, Black Crowned Night Herons, River King Fishers, White breasted Water Hens, and Bamboo Cocks.
Famous varieties of fish in Taiwan, like Lake Shrimps, Chubs, Keng Fish, Carps, Wukuo Fish, Chili Fish and President Fish, can be found in Sun Moon Lake.
Wetland plants grow abundant near the lake. Some of the more dominant herbaceous plants like Spiny Cocklebaum, Common Melastoma, Wild Coffee, Taiwan Ehretia, Mountain Litsea and Taiwan Sapium are found here. (Qualified trekker guides are available on request for your walks)
