The ancient city of Ayutthaya,or Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, The Thai capital for 417 years, is one of Thailand's major tourist attractions. Many ancient ruins and art works can be seen in a city that was founded in 1350 by King U-Thong when the Thais were forced southwards by northern neighbours.During the period of Ayutthaya being the Thai capital, 33 Kings of different dynasties ruled the kingdom until it was sacked by the Burmese in 1767. Ayutthaya is 76 kilometres north of Bangkok and boasts numerous magnificent ruins. Such ruins indicate that Ayutthaya was one of Indo - China's most prosperous cities. Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya a Historical Park, a vast stretch of historical site in the heart of Ayutthaya city, has been included in UNESCO's list of world heritage since 13 December ,1991.

Ayutthaya covers 2,556 square kilometres, and is administratively divided into 16 districts (Ampohes). It is conveniently accessible due to good roads and a short distance from Bangkok.

Ayutthaya Historical Park

Located here are many of Ayutthaya's most important attraction, among them the Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit, containing one of the largestcoated bronze Buddha images in Thailand; the Royal Palace, Wat Mahathat, during from 1958, now on display in thee Ayutthaya National Museum.

The Kingdom of Ayutthaya reached its apex in terms of sovereignty, military might, wealth, culture, and international commerce in the 16th century when the Kingdoms territory was extended far beyond present-day Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar. Ayutthaya even had diplomatic relations with Louis XIV of France and was courted by Dutch, Portuguese, English, Chinese and Japanese merchants.
Visitors can explore and appreciate Thai history in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, which is situated only 86 kilometers north of Bangkok. Visitors to Ayutthaya can marvel at its grandeur reflected through numerous magnificent structures and ruins concentrated in and around the city island surrounded by Maenam Chao Phraya, Maenam Pa Sak and Maenam Lopburi.



Ancient Palace

The palace was original built King U- Thong in the 14 th century, and was expanded over the years. These pavilions were completely destroyed in 1767 , leaving only brick foundation ,porticos and walls. The Tri Muk Building was rebuilt in its original style during the reign of King Chulalongkorn in 1907.

1. River Jet

Transport in co-operation with Pa- In palace has arranged boat trips to Bang Pa - In which allow tourists to enjoy the beautiful scenery along both sides of the Chao Phraya River and around Kho Wat Niwet Tama Prawat. The trips are made on a catamaran cruiser built to a high safety standard and powered by a 600 hp engine from England. The catamaran , which can carry up to 82 passengers, is equipped withair-conditioning and Planning your trip

Altogether there are 7 trips daily from 09.00 to 15.00, and each trip will take 20 minutes.

Pang Chang Ayutthaya (Ayutthaya Elephant Camp)
(opposite Wat Kate)

This is arranging elephant rides around the ancient sites in the historical town of Phra Nakhorn Si Ayutthaya with information in English, Japanese and German so that tourists can understand the important of each historical site. Altogether there are 3 tour Programs :

Following the route Wat Kate, Khum Khun Phan , Wat Phra Ram, Wat Mongkhon Bophit , Phra Chao U - Thong Monument, Beung Phra Ram. Duration approximately 25 minutes Baht. 400 per person per elephant

Following the route Wat Kate, Khum Khan Phan, Wat Phra Ram, Wat Mongkhon Bophit, Wat Phra Si Sanphet the elephant will carry tourists around the line of the old palace wall (Kampaeng Kaew) to Phra Chao U-Thong Monument.

Duration approximately 40 minutes (Above rates include all fees for visiting historical sites under the care of the Fine Arts Dept.) Bhat.500 per person per elephant

Tourists with a limited time can make 2 or 3 circuits of the Elephant Kraal (near Wat Kate)

Duration approximately 10 minutes Bht.200 per person per elephant
