Akaligo

Every Sunday, you can enjoy our Jazz Brunch with a grand selection of fine cuisine and a free flow of warm jazz from our resident band. The sumptuous buffet include a variety of appetizers, a sushi and sashimi counter, a pasta station, a carvery with a succulent roast, a Mongolian barbeque grill and a tempting dessert table with homemade ice creams and sorbets. The Sunday Jazz Brunch is available every Sunday from 12pm to 3 pm.

Fujian
Styled as a 1930s Shanghai mansion and offering fine regional Chinese cuisine. The dim sum lunch is renowned throughout Chiang Mai.

Set over two floors with a spacious veranda overlooking the traditional Kad Dhara Shopping Village and private dining available for 2 to 50 guests. Fujian has a rich atmosphere decorated in a prosperous style with many rare pieces from our art and antiques collection. The cuisine also meets the finest tastes.

Throughout Chiang Mai we are renowned for our lunchtime dim  sum, fragrant delicacies presented in bamboo steamers. The evening menu lists a variety of Chinese regional cooking styles from classic Cantonese to the more spicy cuisine from Sichuan province with many contemporary innovations. In keeping with the Chinese ‘family style’ meal, portions are served individually on the finest bone china.

Fujian takes its name from the prosperous Chinese province 
 
which is famous for its black tea. Our diners are invited to enjoy a ‘tea tasting’ during their meal, comprised of some of the best teas from Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi’s extensive tea collection.   

Le Grand Lanna
Styled as a Lanna nobleman’s house. Sit beneath rain trees on the terrace or in one of three private pavilions.

Beneath the sweep of rain trees, guests dine overlooking a mature tropical garden bursting with crested hibiscus, palms, orchids and pungent jasmine. Choose our terrace, cooled by mist-spraying fans or our air-conditioned salons decorated with art and antiques from around the region. Private dining is available for up to 30 guests.

Each evening members of our cultural team give an hour  performance of music and traditional dance.Le Grand Lanna has a distinguished reputation amongst discerning locals for which we are proud. 

Horn Bar
An ultra cool space to chill out with cocktails. Named for its fascinating mask collection.

Even this cool space to chill out with evening cocktails offers an element of culture. It is named for its unique horned mask collection frequently used in Thai dramas and dance.

Each wall displays masks from many different regions of Myanmar. They depict mythological characters from the Demons of Dansai to Hanumaru, the heroic ape, frequently dramatized in the Thai mask dance called "Ramayana".

Cool club sounds, stylish seating and an excellent mixologist are the real essence of this space. 
 
Pool Bars
Adjoining the resort’s two outdoor pools, both Loy Kham Bar and Colonial Pool Bar serve signature cocktails, iced juices and light snacks all day.

Loy Kham Bar
From our al fresco setting you can enjoy panoramic views of the resort. Recline in the sun or retire to the shade and we’ll serve you cooling refreshments and snacks. In the evenings this becomes a magical spot with torchlight flickering over the still waters of our landscaped pool. 

Colonial Pool Bar

Slip out of our pool and order, by the time you’re dry lunch will be laid beneath the shady parasol.

You will be greeted with icy mint infused towels which provide cool refreshment on a hot afternoon.

Serving light lunches and drinks around the blue and white tiled splendour of our Colonial pool, so reminiscent of 1920s Riviera elegance. 

Oriental Shop
A traditional tea shop located in our shopping village, Kad Dhara, serving sweet pastries and cakes, home made ice cream and fine tea and coffee.
 
The Oriental Shop is a pretty one-storey Victorian Tea House framed by green palms, with music from whistling song birds.

For anyone who enjoys quality confectionary this is a delicious treat with a menu of classic sweets and bakery items to rival any European cafe. Enjoy chocolate or coffee-flavoured pastries such as Opera and Tiramisu, pale pink and green melt in your mouth macaroons and crunchy chocolate mousse cakes such as the Tendresse. There is also a variety of hot and cold beverages and myriad flavours of homemade ice cream.

Our Villas bring to life the architecture and design of Lanna, evoking all the regions that rich kingdom covered from Mandalay to Vientiane.

All are made with rich bronze teak wood that blends with the natural surroundings. With over 60 acres of land we had no shortage of space in creating our villas and all are renowned for their size. Indeed most have dining areas, outdoor plunge pools and your own piano. These are true retreats set amidst paddy fields and ornate gardens, the rain trees and betel palms create a green seclusion. Villa

These authentic Northern Thai rice barns were actually imported complete from the countryside. They encircle a delightful Thai cottage garden to recreate the true atmosphere of rural village life. Set over two storeys the ground floor living area is a creative blend of rustic textures; bamboos, silks and hill tribe textiles. Upstairs the atmosphere is full of character, with crafted wooden beams fixed with dovetail joints and old style sliding shutters. The bedroom has a king size bed and inviting bathroom with polished teak surrounding the peanut shaped spa bath.

Deluxe Villa

Each of our villas will exceed your expectations in living space. In your private Thai house you have a downstairs living area off which is a powder room. Upstairs the high-ceiling bedrooms offer king or twin beds. White muslin draped over canopies sweeps onto the polished teak floors. If you remove your shoes as traditional in Thailand you will find the natural wood soft under the bare soles of your feet. The design of the villas draws you outside, be it onto the terrace, to the deck, the massage area or sala. These typical Thai seating areas are perched up high with tranquil views over the tropical gardens or the nearby rice fields. Cushion covers in vintage Lao textiles add to the beauty of the setting.

Deluxe Villa with outdoor Jacuzzi

Relaxation is the soul of these Deluxe Villas. Each has its private outdoor Jacuzzi. From your terrace enjoy serene green views over your garden or the paddy fields or dissolve muscle stress with a private treatment in your outdoor massage area. Overall this Villa is much larger in size, and your entirely private home set over two floors has been created without reserve as an ideal hideaway. The interiors display selected pieces from our collection of antiques that play a critical role in the preservation of Lanna history. If you are musical you will be surprised and pleased to have your own piano. Alternatively you may prefer to invite some of our artists for a private performance; we offer many talents including traditional Thai dance and music.

Grand Deluxe Villa with Plunge Pool

The ground floor of this luxurious teak wood Villa invites a private dinner party. The large pantry is an excellent facility for our butlers who will serve you by candlelight in your dining area or on one of your terraces lit by flaming torches.

Alternatively reserve one of our expert therapists for a treatment in your massage area then recreate your own spa ritual with your secluded plunge pool, steam room followed by ice shower, finally retreating to your peaceful sun deck. Inside the high ceilings of the upper floor amplify the extensive spaciousness of these airy cool rooms. Entering a large hallway, on one side you have a bedroom and study, to the other is a fabulous bathroom featuring a whirlpool tub surrounded in gleaming teak. Once more architecturally you are drawn to the terraces, with seating areas for dining, reclining or peaceful meditation across views of the languid green paddy fields.

Grand Deluxe Villa with Pool

Self contained splendour. The finest of all our villas especially favoured by honeymoon couples, not only for its auspicious room number but for the many private luxuries. Take a plunge in your pool then indulge in your private spa ritual; soak in your Jacuzzi, you can choose indoor or outdoor, move to the steam room, followed by an ice shower then reserve one of our highly trained therapists for a massage.

The vast living space provides an unconfined base; architecturally you are drawn outside either to the deck, the traditional Thai sala or your upper sun terrace. In the evenings you can remain outside, call one of our chefs to prepare you a private dinner, a barbecue by torch light; alternatively retire indoors from some inventive International cuisine.

The upstairs has a king size bed, draped in white muslin. Your private study, includes wireless internet and cordless phones. The large bathroom has a spa shower and raised Jacuzzi.

Grand Deluxe Two-Bedroom Villa

Perfect for a group of four or family, we offer adjacent double-storey Deluxe Villas within their own private area. Each villa features a living room on the ground floor with ample lounge space and a private dining area. The large pantry will be useful for families but more luxuriously it is a base for our talented private dining team to prepare dinner parties, served with panache by our butlers, indoors or under the stars by the light of a flaming torch. Outside there is a massage area for both villas to share, large decks for sun bathing and a covered sala, the Thai style pavilion scattered with fine woven cushions. Upstairs one villa has Twin beds the other a King size bed. The bathrooms need hardly any description just large and fabulous.

These are the most prestigious of all our teak wood villas. In these villas you have all the accommodation and comforts of the Grand Deluxe two bedrooms, but with the additional luxury of a large plunge pool located within your private grounds. You have two separate villas, each with ground floor living areas and bedrooms upstairs, one king bedded, the other twin. The series of decks, terraces offer sufficient space for socialising or for individuals to seek out their own privacy. The interiors feature selected pieces from our collection of antiques, here guests enjoy consummate luxury and relaxation surrounded by fine art.

Suites

Neighbouring influences introduced colonial architecture to Northern Thailand and we bring that classic elegance to life in our colonial suites.

Our suites run the length of a white colonnade lined with green palms and dark shutters. Located around the gardens near the swimming pool and lobby they are a more sociable option to the private villas and it is easy to arrange connecting rooms.

The interiors evoke a bygone era of elegant grandeur. Each suite has a separate living room and a large private verandah. The ceilings soar to five metres enhancing the feeling of airy spaciousness, so inviting in the tropics. All guests enjoy the dedicated service of our butlers.

Spa Suite

Situated within the Spa Residence, two steps from our Dheva Spa you are always close to the soul of our resort. Many guests stay with us to enjoy the extensive menu of spa treatments and the in depth Ayurvedic regimes. With programmes running from one day to 21 days it is particularly convenient to be in close proximity to our spa. Some suites offer close up views of the intricately carved roofs, created as seven steps up to the heavens, the carvings took a 150 strong team of artisans over 3 years to create. All suites are decorated with an elegant formality and oriental influence. Each has a separate bedroom and living room, spa area and verandah.

Colonial Suite

Each has a living room decorated in style featuring beautifully tiled floors, glass chandeliers and Victorian lantern desk lamps. The large bathrooms have a whirlpool tub and separate shower. Floor to ceiling terrace doors lead through to your verandah overlooking a lake and gardens. The soft whirr of ceiling fans and fine sheer keep the rooms cool. Select a King or Twin bedded suite.

Deluxe Colonial Suite

Our Deluxe Suites are larger than the Colonial suites with a wide entrance hall leading into a spacious sitting room. Low white paneling is matched with ochre walls, giving a fresh and elegant ambience, typical of the era. Enjoy the views of the landscaped gardens from your chaise longue or retire to the verandah with an E M Forster novel and entirely relive the period. In the bedrooms the high ceilings amplify the spaciousness and in turn they lead onto your generously proportioned bathroom which includes a walk-in closet and dressing area.

Grand Deluxe Colonial Suite

Our Grand Deluxe suites have their own stately grandeur reflecting the high ambition of the colonial era. Verandahs overlook the blue and white tiled pool, a colonialist recreation of 1920s Riviera elegance. A private kitchen allows our staff to prepare high style private dining for your pleasure or should you wish to entertain. The large bathrooms are cool retreats with slatted shutters, white marble surfaces, wood finished walls and Victorian freestanding bath. The style is evocative of a period when people were accustomed to true luxury.

Grand Deluxe Two-Bedroom Mandarin Suite

These suites are ideal for families or a group of four travelling together in high style. Named Mandarin suites for the Chinese influence manifest in the colonial style and of course for our high ranking guests. The ante room leads to a black and white marble entrance hall which in turn introduces you to a stately living room. An interesting feature of the room is an ornately carved enclosed Chinese bed. The terrace overlooks the tropical gardens and elegant blue and white tiled pool. There are two bedrooms. The twin bedroom has a remarkably large en suite bathroom that includes a black marble sunken bath. With its own private lift the master bedroom is simply extravagant in size with a no less astoundingly spacious bathroom. The wrap around balcony gives 180 degree views of the resort with a beautiful perspective of the tiered roofs of the spa stepping up to nirvana.

Accommodation also includes a generous kitchen for staff or should you wish us to create one of our renowned private dinners. Approximately 252 square meters/2709 square feet, the verandah is 50 square meters/535 square feet.

The Penthouse Residence

The suite is designed with fine handcrafted details and decorated with finesse, polished teakwood floors are spread with Persian carpets; a grand piano makes a majestic centerpiece. With access through your private lift your residence offers an ante chamber, drawing room, dining room and a quite spectacularly sized bedroom. Within the accommodation is a kitchen for your staff or our skilled chefs to prepare private dining.

We have two swimming pools, two floodlit tennis courts and 60 acres of space to jog through. Beyond the resort there are unlimited hills for challenging hikes, see under sports.

Tennis
We have two astrograss flood lit tennis courts which are open from 7am to 8pm. Rackets and balls are available for hire. Our professional coach is available for lessons.

Jogging
We have 60 acres of tranquil grounds, with paths winding throughout the resort, skirting paddy fields. In the morning cool this is a fine exercise.

Swimming
We offer two pools. The Loy Kham is a beautiful free form infinity pool with views over paddy fields. Beautifully landscaped and created for relaxation. The Colonial Pool is larger with 50 metre lengths, it is ideal for laps.

Chiang Mai is a paradise for golf lovers with its natural beauty and temperate climate all-year-round. There are three quality 18-hole golf clubs and all are located within 20-45 minutes drive from the resort. For more details see our Golf section.
 
Chiang Mai Green Valley Country Club

The nearby Chiang Mai Green Valley Country Club is set beneath rolling green hills and scattered with swaying palm trees. It is a par 72 golf course. The 18-hole championship course is quite a challenge not least in its length (7,177 yards) but in the creation of many water holes and bunkers. It is a beautiful walk round between waving palms, although they don’t provide a deal of shade. Our concierge will be delighted to make arrangements.

The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Resort

Royal Chiang Mai Golf is the golf course with 18 holes, par 72 developed at the foot of mountains outside of Chiang Mai town. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the course from the city center of Chiang Mai by car. The 18 holes are laid out on a hilly country surrounded with natural forest. All tees, fairways and roughs are grassed with 419 Bermuda grass and Greens with imported Tiff Dwarf Bermuda grass. Players can enjoy exciting holes with undulating fairways and greens and in a good arrangement of water hazards and bunkers. They have a good reputation of the maintenance and operation of the course.

Chiang Mai Highland Golf Club

Chiangmai Highland Golf is the golf course with 18 holes, par 72 planned on the scenic Chiangmai mountainside and overlooking the valley. This championship golf course is built on 450 rais of scenic hilly terrain of northern Thailand. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the course from the city centre by car. Players can enjoy golf with an international standard. The design is exciting and challenging by the choice of 5 different tee locations.
