Day 5: Bangkok/Chiang Rai
Fly to Chiang Rai, founded in 1262 by King Mengrai as the nation's first independent kingdom. Transfer to your resort located in the picturesque Golden Triangle, the area where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. In the afternoon, head to Chiang Saen where you board a boat for a cruise on the Khong River. Gazing from the bow of your riverboat, take in the breathtaking view over three countries as you pass through the Golden Triangle.

Day 6: Chiang Rai

Day 7: Chiang Rai/Chiang Mai
Depart overland for Chiang Mai, visiting a hill tribe village en route. Caught somewhere between the sixth and 20th centuries, the hill tribe people are gradually being assimilated into modern Thai life. After lunch, the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy your luxurious resort. This evening, shop for silks, clothing, handicrafts and other treasures at Chiang Mai's famous Night Market.

Day 9: Chiang Mai
Spend the morning with elephants at the Mae Sa Elephant Training Camp. Learn to communicate with these gentle giants with the help of personal mahout training.
