Hue has always been considered the fulcrum of Vietnam's two ‘rice baskets', the Red River delta and the Mekong delta. Hue is a quiet, relaxing city, big enough to be interesting but small enough to bicycle around. The food is great - the best in Vietnam – and people come to Hue to see the Perfume River, the old Imperial complex, the Citadel and the Forbidden city, the pagodas, and the many tombs of the emperors. The coastline between Hue and Nha Trang is unimaginably beautiful.
 

Day 2. Hue sightseeing. Today you have a full day tour including a boat trip on the Perfume River and a visit to the Royal Tombs. After lunch, tour the Thien Mu Temple which is an octagonal tower of seven tiers rising majestically over the tranquil Perfume (Huong) River. Continue to the Emperors of Contrasts combining visits to the tombs of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.

The hills surrounding Hue are dotted with the tombs of the Nguyen dynasty emperors. Built not only as an eternal resting place, the tombs were designed for recreation. Visit the tomb of Emperor Tu Duc, resplendent in traditional architecture and paved walkways. The balance of the day is on your own to explore, bicycle around Hue or relax back at your hotel. BL

Day 3. Hue to your onward destination. The day is free until your transfer to the airport for your departure flight. Stay longer if you wish. B
