Queensland's World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef is an underwater paradise and a living work-in-progress believed to be over 10,000 years old and over 500 meters thick in some places. It reaches north from just off Bundaberg in central Queensland to the very tip of Australia, the Cape York Peninsula.
Like underwater jungles, coral reefs flourish in warm tropical seas and support an incredibly diverse and dense ecosystem including sponges, coral, shellfish, marine mammals and fish - more than 1,500 varieties of fish, in fact. The inner reef has a maximum depth of 130 feet, with the coral walls of the outer reef plunging to depths of as much as 24,000 feet. Reef diving is world-class year round, with the most consistently good weather and best underwater visibility from August to January.
Tour Itinerary If you're looking for a diving adventure that gives you a large variety of diving then look no further. Experience the amazing underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef on a 3 day 2 night liveaboard dive trip. You will have access to 16 exclusive sites on 5 different reefs. These sites have been selected for their variety and quality of both coral and marine life as well as great visibility. Weather permitting, you will rarely dive the same site more than twice. This dive adventure has you staying out on the Great Barrier Reef for three days and two nights. Take the time to really enjoy the reef in a more relaxed environment.
Day 1. Cairns to Great Barrier Reef. You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Cairns wharf, to board the MV Scuba-Pro I or MV Scuba-Pro II or MV Scuba Pro III. Travel to the Outer Great Barrier Reef and visit up to four reefs on your diving adventure. LD Day 2. Great Barrier Reef. A full day of diving plus unlimited snorkelling. View magnificent hard and soft corals, giant clams, stingrays, and tropical fish both large and small. BLD Day 3. Great Barrier Reef to Cairns. A final day of diving before heading back to Cairns. Tonight a farewell dinner (own expense) with friends. BL It is recommended that you do not fly within 24 hours of diving. Flight arrivals and departures should be carefully planned to avoid cancellation fees due to missed connections.

The Great Barrier Reef is based on the outer margin of Australia's continental shelf - once a part of the Queensland coast. The Reef is closer to the coast in northern Queensland - as near as nine miles from Port Douglas and Cairns - while at its southern end it is nearly 100 miles away. 
This exciting program is for certified divers who will need to produce their diving certificate. Since you will be visiting "the Reef" we recommend you do a modified version of our Cairns Travelpacs.
