Day 1. Cairns to Hughenden. We travel through the lush green grass, volcanic soil and dairy farms before the landscape changes from Rainforest to Eucalypt forest. Visit Australia's smallest bar at the Oasis Roadhouse, and stop for a picnic lunch. On our journey today, there are many opportunities to spot our native wildlife. Enjoy a hike through Porcupine Gorge, Australia's mini Grand Canyon, before arriving at Hughenden. Western Hotel. LD

Day 2. Hughenden to Boulia. We travel through the flat black soil plains to reach Winton, rich in Australian history including the 1895 birthplace of our unofficial national anthem, Waltzing Matilda. Carisbrook Station is our next stop where we enjoy a BBQ lunch here before continuing to Middleton Pub, built in 1876 - population 5 (including kids & pets!). Continue on to Boulia. Day 3. Boulia to Alice Springs. During today's travel, we pass through cattle stations and skirt the top of the Simpson Desert with its spectacular red sands, stopping to view a 5 metre termite mound. Lunch today is at Jervois Station, a working cattle station. Late afternoon arrive at Alice Springs. BLD
