Australia's natural beauty is unbeatable. Drive the Great Ocean Road - Australia's most spectacular scenery, see koalas and kangaroos in their natural habitat on Kangaroo Island. Explore ancient rainforest, mighty sand dunes, and fresh water lakes, view the abundance of wildlife and the incredible sunsets on Fraser Island, and enjoy the rainforest surrounding O'Reilly's Guesthouse.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Depart your home town today. Your flight will depart Los Angeles this evening.
Day 2. Cross international dateline. You will lose a day which will be regained on your return trip.
Day 3. Arrive in Melbourne. On arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Tonight you might like to dine aboard Melbourne's Tramcar Restaurant (additional cost).
Day 4. Touring Melbourne area. A city tour today will take you to cathedrals, parks, gardens and historic landmarks such as Captain Cook's cottage. An afternoon and evening tour takes you to Phillip Island to see the world renowned "Little Penguin Parade".
Day 5. Melbourne to Apollo Bay. Today you will collect your rental vehicle and make your way past Geelong and on to Torquay. This is where the Great Ocean Road begins its journey westward. Continue on to Apollo Bay with its wide crescent shaped sandy beach.
Day 6. Apollo Bay to Port Fairy. Depart Apollo Bay and continue along the Great Ocean Road that travels through the Otway National Park. On your way to Port Fairy visit the quaint town of Koroit, where Irish immigrant farmers originally settled. The unique fishing village of Port Fairy is one of Victoria's earliest ports.
Day 7. Port Fairy to Grampians National Park. From Port Fairy, travel to the Grampians National Park and Halls Gap. The scenic Grampians National Park is one of Victoria's largest and most accessible National Parks. It is home to the biggest collection of Koori rock art in the state, and is well known for its wildflowers, striking rock formations, 200 species of bird life, panoramic lookouts and well maintained network of 50 walking tracks.
Day 8. Halls Gap to Naracoorte or Coonawarra. Depart Halls Gap today through the Grampians National Park crossing the border to Naracoote or Coonawarra. The nearby lakes and waterways are perfect for fishing and enjoying the distant views of The Grampians.
Day 9. Naracoorte or Coonawarra to Adelaide. Continue travelling north to Adelaide. Drop off your vehicle and make your way to your accommodation. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 10. Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. Today you will be met and transferred to the airport for your 30 minute flight to Kangaroo Island (airfare included). Your tour of Kangaroo Island takes you to Flinders Chase National Park and Rocky River Homestead to view wildlife. Before lunch, visit Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, where fur seals play. After lunch, your tour stops at Seal Bay National Park where you can walk amongst the sea lions, before returning to the airport for your return flight back to Adelaide. L
Day 11. Adelaide via Brisbane to O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Brisbane (airfare not included). On arrival in Brisbane you will be met and transferred to Australia's largest subtropical rainforest - World Heritage Lamington National Park. On arrival at O'Reilly's enjoy a brief tour of the Guesthouse and facilities.
Day 12. O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse. Start the day with O'Reilly's famous birdwalk. In the afternoon, you will have a choice of excursions to scenic lookouts. In the evening join a nocturnal walk, watch an audiovisual presentation or just relax in the lounge room.
Day 13. O'Reilly's to Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island. Transfer by vehicle, rail and ferry to Kingfisher Bay Resort on Fraser Island. Explore the resort, swim in the pools, go bush walking or try your luck with fishing.
Day 14. Kingfisher Bay Resort. Enjoy your buffet breakfast before joining a ranger for your full day 4WD coach tour. Discover rainforest, crystal-clear fresh water lakes, shipwrecks and coloured sands.
Day 15. Kingfisher Bay Resort to Brisbane. After breakfast the catamaran departs for Urangan Boat Harbour to connect with the Queenslander Rail transfer. The Tilt train journey will arrive in Brisbane where you will be met and transferred by private car to your accommodation.
Day 16. Depart Brisbane. Today is at leisure till you will be met and transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
