Sydney - Hunter Valley - Adelaide - Kangaroo Island - Tasmania - Melbourne
Take a scenic drive to Australia's oldest wine producing area - the Hunter Valley. Visit Australia's Festival City of Adelaide to see the Barossa Valley and its many boutique wineries. Tour Kangaroo Island where there is an abundance of wildlife for you to enjoy. Then it's off to Tasmania where the air is the cleanest and the water is at its purest. In Melbourne, visit the Little Penguins and take a tour to learn about the wildlife.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1. Depart your home town today. Your flight will depart the West Coast this evening.
Day 2. Cross international dateline. You will lose a day which will be regained on your return trip.
Day 3. Arrive in Sydney. G'Day! Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Day 4. Sydney Sightseeing. This morning during your guided walking tour of the historic Rocks area, you will enjoy views of the harbour and see historic buildings and sandstone stairs whilst wandering through the many alleyways. Your guide will tell you the story of the settlement of New South Wales. This afternoon we take a city tour past the Opera House, Botanical Gardens and the southern beaches including Bondi.
Day 5. Cruising Sydney Harbour and Taronga Zoo. Your cruise of Sydney Harbour today includes stops at the Rocks, Opera House, Watson's Bay and Taronga Zoo. Your ticket is flexible enabling you to take any of the 8 daily departures, spending as long as you wish at each stop before rejoining the cruise. Entrance to the Taronga Zoo is included, where you can see many native animals including kangaroos, koalas and the adorable platypus.
Day 6. Sydney to Hunter Valley. Today you collect your rental car and travel north over the Harbour Bridge. Your journey takes you over Mt View where you gain a panoramic perspective of the Hunter Valley wine areas. During the afternoon take the opportunity to visit some of the Hunter Valley's famous wineries and have the opportunity to purchase wines that are not available anywhere else. Arrive at your accommodation with the remainder of the afternoon free to relax.
Day 7. Hunter Valley. Day at leisure to explore the region.
Day 8. Hunter Valley to Adelaide. This morning after breakfast, join the Hunter Valley 2 hour wine school. After departing your accommodation, return to Sydney. Drop off your vehicle at the airport and board your flight to Adelaide. On arrival in Adelaide you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.
Day 9. Barossa Valley. A full day excursion to the famous Barossa Valley. Originally settled by Germans, the little towns are still a picturesque part of Australia's largest wine growing area. L
Day 10. Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. Depart your Adelaide hotel, and enjoy the morning trip through the Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis. You'll then board your SeaLink ferry for the 45 minute cruise to Kangaroo Island. Visit Parndana Wildlife Park and Seal Bay for a beach walk among a breeding colony of Australian. L
Day 11. Kangaroo Island to Adelaide. Today your tour begins at Kelly Hill Caves. A National Parks Ranger will escort you deep into the cave system where you'll be simply awestruck at the fantastic limestone formations. After lunch head to Flinders Chase National Park renowned as a sanctuary for a host of native Australian animals. You'll walk along the rugged southern coastline to the spectacular Remarkable Rocks and Admiral's Arch. Your Kangaroo island adventure then comes to a relaxing conclusion at the ferry terminal for a return journey to Adelaide. L
Day 12. Adelaide to Launceston. Today you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Launceston. On arrival you will pick up your rental car and drive to the rustic Cradle Mountain Lodge.
Day 13. Cradle Mountain Lodge. A full day to experience the lodge and surrounding area. Go for a walk, explore the many trails on a mountain bike, learn how to abseil, try your hand at fly fishing, take a scenic flight, and enjoy a half hour therapeutic massage.
Day 14. Launceston to Melbourne. Today you will make your way to the airport to drop off your rental car and board your flight to Melbourne. On arrival in Melbourne you will be met and transferred to your accommodation.
Day 15. Touring Melbourne area. On a city tour today you will view cathedrals, parks, gardens and historic landmarks such as Captain Cook's cottage. An afternoon and evening tour takes you to Phillip Island to see the world renowned "Little Penguin Parade".
Day 16. Savannah Walkabout. Today you will be met at your hotel and taken on a guided eco-tour which will give you quality time to learn about the wildlife and enjoy the wide open spaces of Australia. Get close to kangaroos, koalas and abundant birdlife - in the wild. L
Day 17. Depart Melbourne. Today is at leisure till you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
