In one week you can luxuriously experience two of Australia's top attractions, the legendary outback and tropical North Queensland with it's rainforests and Great Barrier Reef. This idea combines nicely with the Sydney/Canberra/Melbourne Classic.

Day 2. Alice Springs to Ayers Rock & Olgas. Off early by coach and travel through changing scenery from the MacDonnell Ranges, over the Finke River into the semi-arid desert country that surrounds Ayers Rock and the Olgas. After visiting the Olgas, see the setting sun light up "The Rock", the world's largest monolith. Overnight at the magnificent Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 3. Ayers Rock. All morning is spent visiting the area, with time to climb "The Rock" if you wish. You'll hear some of the Aboriginal mythology and legends that surround this area. Later visit the Cultural Center to learn more about this ancient culture, then witness Aboriginal artists at work at the Maruku Arts & Cooperative Center. This afternoon is at leisure to relax and enjoy "The Red Centre".

Day 4. Ayers Rock to Cairns. Fly today from the Centre to Cairns (airfare not included). Upon arrival in Cairns you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 5. Great Barrier Reef. Today visit the Outer Barrier Reef. There will be time for a swim and to view the abundant sea life from the underwater observatory and see the beautiful coral from a glass bottom boat. L

Day 6. Kuranda & Aboriginal Experience. Board the Kuranda Train for a scenic ride to Kuranda, famous for its markets. Travel into the towering rainforest on an amphibious army duck. Enjoy an Aussie BBQ lunch and an authentic aboriginal cultural performance under the canopy of the rainforest.

Experience a "Dreamtime" walk with an aboriginal guide. Throw a boomerang, see and touch Australian native animals. See koalas and kangaroos and glide over the rainforest canopy on Skyrail. L

Day 7. Depart Cairns. Today is at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for your return flight.
