Istanbul

Istanbul has enchanted visitors and conquerors throughout history. This exclusive stopover program includes sightseeing of the city's famed highlights and free time for independent exploration. Tour Aya Sofya, the world's largest enclosed space for over 1,000 years. Nearby is the Blue Mosque -- a symphony of classic Ottoman architecture, elaborately adorned with tiles. Shop for carpets, leather goods, antiques and souvenirs in the palatial Grand Bazaar, the world's largest covered market. Tour Yerebatan Saray, an ethereal Byzantine underground cistern dating back to 532 AD. Topkapi Palace's treasure houses live up to all fantasies of Sultan life with lavishly embroidered silken robes and massive diamonds and emeralds on display. Tour Suleymaniye, the mosque and community complex that were the ultimate architectural achievement of Sinan the Great. There will also be time to visit the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art; the Mosaic Museum, with original Roman mosaics depicting wild animals and deities; and the Dolmabahce Palace, where Ataturk ended his days.
